2017 US Open Cricket Set For October In Florida

The long awaited dates for the 2017 US Open T20 tournament have been released and it will start on October 25 and runs until October 29.

Chairman of Cricket Council USA (CCUSA) Mahammad Qureshi is very excited about the prospects of international stars coming on board and as such the dates have been set to allow for this. The tournament this year will carry a prize purse of US$100,000 and is expected to attract a number of teams from not only the US and Canada but from around the world.

“We will have a number of stars coming to play including players like Chris Gayle, Rashid Khan, Samuel Badree just to name a few. We are expecting a good turn out because we will have some of the best talent in T20 cricket on display. We are happy that the talent pool is improving and in this way we are hoping to attract interest among youngsters here.”

Qureshi added that all systems are now in place and over the next few weeks CCUSA will be working overtime to make this year’s tournament the best ever. “We are going to make this year the best we have had in the eight years. Last year was really good and yet we are going to improve on this year’s product.”

CCUSA is also going to marry cricket, cars and music at this year’s event and Qureshi added that those coming to cricket will be getting a taste of everything. “We are going to have a concert and in addition to this we are having the usual car show. We are inviting all to come down to the Central Broward Regional Park to enjoy this wonderful spectacle.”

Playing simultaneously with the US Open T20 will be the US Open Women’s T20 tournament and also the Youth US Open.
