Sri Lanka vs Combined Islands
Hundred of cricket fans turned out on a beautiful South Florida night to watch Sri Lanka and Jamaica post victories last Saturday night in the 8th round of the Lauderhill Maq T20 International Night Cricket Tournament.

In the first match at the Lauderhill Sports Park, Sri Lanka defeated Combined Islands by 9 wickets in the final Group C match of the tournament. Combined Islands won the toss and was dismissed for 183 in 19.4 overs. Batting for Combined, Aston Dennis slammed 66 from 43 balls including 5 fours and 5 sixes. Dennis shared a second wicket partnership of 73 with Trevor Garvey who scored 42 including 6 fours and 2 sixes. Dennis also shared in a third wicket partnership of 77 with Burt Davis who blasted 42 from 21 balls including 2 fours and 4 sixes.

Bowling for Sri Lanka, Sayed Ahamed grabbed 3 for 61, whilst Sadik Haque took 2 for 20, Priyantha Liyanage 2 for 37 and Srinivas Nandina 1 for 30.

In reply, Naveed Ahamed hit the fastest century in the eleven year history of the Maq Lauderhill T20 Intl. Night Cricket tournament, reaching the three figures in just 35 balls – crashing a record 11 sixes along the way. Opening the batting, Ahamed came out firing on all cylinders entertaining the large crowd with some powerful hitting and sharing an opening partnership of 151 with Durgapersad Chouby who scored 60 from 32 balls including 9 fours and 2 sixes.

Robbie Paltoo and Aston Dennis was on the receiving end of most of the carnage with Paltoo conceding 30 runs from one over, whilst Dennis was slammed for 53 from two overs. After his first 50, Ahamed push into top gear and the fireworks began at the Lauderhill Sports Park as he took 15 balls to reach his century and became the first player in night cricket history to scored a century in less than 50 balls. Sri Lanka blazed to victory scoring 185 for 1 in 10.5 overs and qualifying for the playoffs – winners of Group C, joining Trinidad & Tobago, winners of Group B.

Jamaica defeated Pakistan by 55 runs
Jamaica defeated Pakistan by 55 runs in the second game of Lauderhill Maq T20 Intl. Night Cricket Tournament last Saturday night. Winning the toss and electing to bat in front of hundreds of screaming supporters, Jamaica piled up 197 for 7 in the allotted 20 overs. Batting for Jamaica, Keyonie Gayle blasted 69 from 35 balls including 3 fours and 5 sixes, whilst Shawn Beckford scored 31 including 2 fours and 2 sixes. Other useful contributions came from Garnett Campbell who scored 24 not out including 2 fours and 1 six, Kenroy Wright 18 and Haldane Martin 16. Bowling for Pakistan, Mudassar Waqar bagged 2 for 23, Salman Mohammad 2 for 40 and Farhar Ullah 1 for 17.

In reply, Pakistan was dismissed for 142 in 14.2 overs – finishing the tournament with no wins. Batting for Pakistan, Farhan Mohammad slammed a whirlwind 61 from 28 balls including 4 sixes, whilst Farhar Ullah chipped in with 23 including 1 four and 2 sixes, Mohammad Qureshi 14 and Salman Mohammed scoring 13. Bowling for Jamaica, Herlando Johnson grabbed 2 for 16, Keyonie Gayle 2 for 19 and Glenroy Anglin 1 for 31. Jamaica will await the outcome of the final rounds of games next Saturday and will attempt to qualify via the wildcard route.
