Last weekend, August 1st and 2nd, cricket fans were treated to some good Twenty20 cricket, when the West Indies Legends played two games against local squads. Everyone had fun: players and fans alike. (Read the reports on USACricketers.com)

The fun continues this weekend for fans, with the playing off of the Annual Guyana Inter-County Cricket Games.  This is the 6th year for the tournament, and once again the main sponsor is businessman and cricket lover, Insaf Ali of Windsor Electrical Company.

The matches will be played on Aug. 8th, 2015, at the beautiful Idlewild Cricket Complex at 223rd Street and 147th Avenue, Rosedale, Queens, NY.

In the opening match Demerara takes on Essequibo. This contest begins at 9:30 AM. By virtue of the fact that Berbice was the Champions last year, they automatically drew a bye, and are through to the finals. The winner of the first Demerara vs. Essequibo match will meet Berbice in the Final, which gets underway at 1:30 PM.

All three counties have gone out of their way to enlist the very best players available to represent the three counties of the land of many waters.

The squads are:

Numerous youngsters and new faces are included in the squads, and we are expecting some exciting cricket from all the players. It is hard to predict a winner, with any certainty. It is after all Twenty20 cricket, and in this format of the game, anything is possible.

The sponsor is offering $40 cash to anyone catching a ball with one hand beyond the boundary, and off the bat of any of the batsmen batting during the match.

So, don’t be left out. Come on out to Idlewild and have some fun.

We at www.usacricketers will try to bring you a live scorecard of the games.
