EACA 40-Overs Tournament
Victory CC skipper won the toss and decided to bat first on a bright sunny Mother’s Day out in Long Island at Brentwood 2 ground. Harleen and Jasdeep Singh got off to a good start seeing off the pace of Shines Beepat and Rayhanul  Islam.

Shines Beepat (left) hit an unbeaten 70 and Saumil Gandhi took 4 for 24 in MMZ win over Victory.

It was the introduction of the mesmerizing Saumil Gandhi who would put a dent into the batting of the Victory team. Gandhi dismiss the top four batsmen Jasdeep Singh 58, Harleen Singh 33, Haravan for a duck and Sai for 2 in quick succession finishing with figures of 4 for 24 off 8 overs. Andy Mohammed bowled well with figures of 2 for 18 off his 8 overs and Neil Patel finish with 3 for 40 off 7 overs. Victory was dismissed for 168 in the last over.

Skipper Andy Mohammed and the stylish right-hander Glenn Meyer opened the batting for the MMZ. Mohammed started off briskly hitting consecutives boundaries, his partner Meyer looks very solid and was undone by a slower ball that got the edge trying to turn one to fine leg and was caught for  4 off Darshan. Chris ‘Slim’ Sirkisson came in at number three and was looking good before he played a spanking on drive into the hands of the mid wicket fielder who took a very good catch. Saud Hussain joins his skipper who was batting well and look set for a huge score. Mohammed got one that was heading down leg and was adjudged lbw for a well-played 38.

Saud Hussain struck 32 not out.

MMZ were 60 for 3 when the debutant Shines Beepat walks to the crease. Beepat along his former team mates Saud Hussain batted with pure class. Beepat was the most aggressive of the two hitting some huge sixes out of the park, he brought up his 50 in quick time as he was only dealing in boundaries and sixes.

MMZ will finish on 172 for 3 off 20.3 overs,  Beepat finishes with a brilliant knock of 70 not out which includes 8×4 and six powerful sixes and the very dependable Saud Hussain  with a stylish 32 not out.
