On a Beautiful day for cricket after two weeks lay off due to the inclement weather New York City has been experiencing, the scene was set for a good game of cricket with the spectators gathering at the newly laid wicket at Baisley Pond Park.

Sarjoo’s X1 was led by Ricardo Sarjoo the youngest son of the late Neville Sarjoo, while Richmond Hill/East Bank Stars team was under the leadership of Debo Sankar. The toss was won by Richmond Hill/East Bank Stars and they sent in Sarjoo’s XI to take first strike.

Sarjoo’s X1 amassed a total of 219 all out in 29.3 overs. Leading the batting was Tamesh Balwant 89, Dilly Khelawan 47 and Steve Massiah 45.

Bowling for Richmond Hill/East Bank Stars, New York Region under-15 player Michael Ketwaroo bagged 3 for 35 from his six overs, other noteworthy bowling came from Sham Ali 3.3-0-23-3 and Zamin Amin 6-0-49-2.

Richmond Hill/East Bank Stars could only manage 125 all out from 23 overs. Marlon Kallicharran and Deryck McDonald were only batsmen to show any resistance with 46 and 23 not out respectively.

Mark Gomes was the most successful bowling for Sarjoo’s XI, he took 4 for 20, while Telston Johnson bagged 3 for 37 and Charlton Senior had 1 for 35.

At the presentation ceremony Tamesh Balwant was awarded the MVP for his knock of 89, Dilly Khelawan and Michael Ketwaroo took the best batting and bowling awards respectively.
