By Ricky Kissoon
Dewitt Clinton’s Syed Islam (108), visit from delegates of International Cricket Council (ICC), and United States Cricket Association (USACA) highlighted week six of the 2013 PSAL Cricket season.

On May 6th, Brooklyn International surprised Franklin D. Roosevelt in a nail biting finish at Marine Park.  Syed Forhaduddin contributed with 38 runs, and Shiful Islam had an excellent all-round performance (25 runs and 3 wks.).  In Queens, Newcomers took care of Thomas Edison with a good all-round performance coming from Mohammed Islam (29 runs and 2 wks.)

On May 7th, delegates from International Cricket Council (ICC) made history as they attended a PSAL cricket match played between FDR and LIC at Erskine Field, Brooklyn.  PSAL players and coaches relished the opportunity when they grouped together to take photos with the ICC Champions Trophy.  The seventh and final ICC Champions Trophy is scheduled to begin on June 6th. in England where eight teams will compete for a chance to earn $2 million in prize money.  Recent news and the complete tournament fixtures can be found at http://www.espncricinfo.com/icc-champions-trophy-2013/content/current/series/566910.html

Hamza Rana of FDR was very motivated after getting a close-up glimpse of the sterling silver ICC Champions Trophy.  Rana (65*) aggressively punished the LIC bowlers to the different parts of the ground.  Roosevelt would go on to thump the defending champions by 9 wickets.  At Kissena Park, Stuyvesant registered its first win of the season as they easily defeated Queens HS of Teaching by 9 wickets.  Franklin K. Lane also got in the win column as they won against Lafayette, Lincoln stunned Richmond Hill at Baisley Pond, and Springfield Gardens made history by registering its first win in a nail biter against Bronx HS of Science.

On May 10th. Franklin K. Lane registered its second win against Wingate, with strong contribution coming from Alex Chattergoon (52*) and Willis Ramdass (16* and 2 wks.).  On the adjacent wicket at Marine Park, Brooklyn International restricted Sheepshead Bay to 100 runs.  In Queens, Keifer Phil and HS For Construction prevailed against Stuyvesant in a nail biting finish.
