Cricket Council USA, a sports and entertainment management organization has joined forces with CricketHappening.Com to sponsor the 2011 New Jersey T20 Cricket Tournament.  The tournament will be held during the Labor Day weekend at the Watsessing Park, Bloomfield, NJ from September 3 – 5, 2011.

Labor Day is still celebrated in cities and towns across the United States with parades, picnics, barbecues, fireworks displays and other public gatherings. For cricketers in the Garden State, it represents the opportunity to participate in the New Jersey T20 Cricket Tournament. New Jersey was an important State during the Revolutionary War because of its location near the center of the thirteen colonies and between New York City and Philadelphia. Because of this, more battles were fought in New Jersey than in any other state. This Labor Day Weekend, another battle will be fought as six power-packed teams will compete for the Championship Trophy and $5,000.00 in cash prizes.

As part of the U.S. Cricket Open Championship Series, a representative team from the 2011 New Jersey T20 Cricket Tournament will be invited to participate at this year’s prestigious U.S. Cricket Open to be held on December 1 – 4, 2011 at the Central Broward Regional Park Cricket Stadium, Lauderhill, Florida. The US Cricket Open will have thirty two teams participating in a fun-filled four day extravaganza (music, cheerleaders, food) that will be the largest T20 cricket tournament to be played in South Florida.

“Today New Jersey is recognized for its present as well as its past. While remembering its proud history, New Jersey will continue to be a cornerstone in the development and expansion of cricket in the USA,” stated Dr. Rahim Gul, President of Cricket Council USA. This year tournament is hosted by the Garden State Cricket League and is approved by the United States of America Cricket Association (USACA).
