Eastern American Cricket Association’s Power40 competition
Andy Harricharran hit half-century number 2 in as many weeks while Marlon Persaud picked up his 2nd 4 wicket haul in just his 3rd outing for Liberty Sports Club this year to lead #BlueNation to a 38 runs victory over a spirited All Stars Cricket Club in week 6 of the Eastern American Cricket Association’s Power40 competition. Terrence Madramootoo, who contributed 36 with the bat and delivered an economical one for 23 off 8 overs, along with Thakur Singh’s 3 for 35 with the ball rounded off the victory.

The boys in blue won the toss but got off to a shaky start finding themselves in early bother at 3 for 26 in the 6th over. Andy Harricharran along with Imtiaz Hassan staged a recovery with a solid 81 runs partnership before Hassan was run out for 12. Harricharran brought up his half century during the stand.

Joined by Madramootoo, the pair continued to punish to the All Star attack. Harricharran went on to hit 10 fours and 6 sixes before he was unfortunately struck plumb off a creeping long hop on 98.

The ASCC bowling found a renewed confidence at the fall of Harricharran’s wicket and quickly picked up Madramootoo. The spin combination of Jakir Hussain, Zakir Baig & Saleah Ahmed went on to wrap up the LSC inning with Ahmed picking up 4 for 20 off 7 overs. Thakur Singh offered some late inning resistance with an unbeaten 13 to boost Liberty SC to 197 all out.

A slow but steady start from the All Star openers saw off the LSC new ball pair of Imtiaz Hassan and Andy Harricharran. Madramootoo was introduced and turned on the pressure immediately bowling 2 consecutive maidens and picking up a wicket in his second over. Thakur Singh then struck in his 1st over. Singh went on to remover the number 3 & 4 batsmen while Madramootoo kept things tight on his end.

Marlon Persaud picked up the attack in the 29th over when the batting power play was taken and struck immediately. He then took over the show with his flat off spinners picking up another wicket in his 2nd over then again in his 4th and 5th over. Persaud finished with 4 for 28 while Harricharran complemented his 98 with 1 for 20 off 7 overs as LSC wrapped up the All Star inning at 159.

Jakir Hussain’s 39 and Roy Kellawan’s 36 were the main contributions to the All Star chase.
