Hawaiian Arctic Cricket Club is anxious to make it five in row when the Scarborough Cricket Association (SCA) Premier Division 50-over competition rolls off on Saturday with a number of matches.

Hawaiian Arctic has enjoyed tremendous success for the past four consecutive years having lifted the title and they are confident of another outstanding season.

With the presence of several senior players still on for this occasion again, president of the club Mohan Archie is very optimistic the winning ways will continue to exist.

What happened during those years was a manifestation of his players’ true willingness and dedication to reap success under his tutelage. The commencement of their intense preparations few weeks ago also promised the repeated dominance.

Former West Indies one-day representative Royston Crandon is expected to create another impression again while his contributions over the years were invaluable.

The aggressive right-hander and part-time off-spinner produced some sterling and satisfactory performances since making his debut three seasons ago.

His Guyanese teammate Trevon Garraway was part of the action last year and these two first-class players are anticipated to make a greater impact and help the team’s pursuit for more trophies.

Archie’s declaration is nothing surprising since he is very confident they will play pivotal role too. “I am confident we will win the title again and I know Crandon and Garraway would be very important players to see we get on top again,” Archie related.

Archie, who has been in the president seat for the past twenty-years and since the formation of the club in 1994, also believes that a group of other players has been instrumental to the club’s brilliant accomplishment too.

Former Guyana and West Indies under-19 batsman Hemnarine Chattergoon leading the team exceedingly well and came in for high praise from Archie while he also mentioned greatly about ex-skipper Eon Gunraj and versatile all-rounder Iqbal Rahaman who all played excellent role during these years of domination.

Rahaman and Gunraj are also two founding members and are largely responsible to see the growth of Hawaiian Arctic.

“I always believe in team effort but there [are] some players who just played great innings and contributed significantly; these players have been around a long time and they have performed very well so credit must go to them,” the Guyanese Archie disclosed. Guyana fast-bowler Keon Joseph and discarded opening batsman Krishna Arjune and former Guyana senior wicket-keeper Azib Ally Haniff have made wonderful contributions too for the club as they have been named among the experienced campaigners.

Archive further stated that there is a sense of responsibility from these players as they came out and played superb cricket. One of the key elements to success is hard-work and Archive strongly believes in that.

“Our players are always motivated and dedicated; we have worked really hard over the years and especially to those two gentlemen Rahaman and Gunraj for their tireless effort of the years,” Archie divulged.

Meanwhile, Archie, who sometimes finds himself on the field as a batsman, was very delighted to say that they have gone on YouTube to showcase his team’s four-year achievement with a range of photos.

Notably, in last year’s one-sided final, HACC humiliated Bawa XI by a comprehensive ten-wicket margin, compliments of Garraway’s destructive spell where he picked four wickets for six runs to help bowl out the oppositions for 25 runs.

In 2012, they beat Victoria Park Cricket Club, while in 2011 and 2010, victories were achieved over East West XI and Panoli Cricket Club respectively
