Hustlers, Super Chargers, New Horizon And Brooklyn Boys Claims Title

Hustlers are New York Softball Cricket League 25 Overs Premier Division winners.

United Stars Crushed Again

This is becoming a sequel with a good start and a disappointing ending; many at the ground last Sunday were saying they were not surprise.  It was once again a performance that was well below of what you believed this United Star team is capable of playing.

Hustlers on the other hand have to be given kudos to their skipper Kris Sobhai for his field placing and always seem to make the right change of his bowler at the correct time. The Hustlers bowlers were using the newly rebuilt wicket at 150 Rockaway, which is flat hard and more suited for batting to their advantage and taking away any real treat from the United Stars top order batting. Three of the top six batsmen fail to get any runs, Mangru, Wilfred and Bobby went back to the pavilion without adding anything to the scorebook.

United Star was only able to reach a measly 117 runs for 7 wickets at the end of the 25th over. Amar Singh and Ian got 22 runs each and skipper Ravin Ivan 21. Javid Ally was in fine form with the ball bowling his spell of 5 overs for 18 runs and claiming 3 wickets. Shawn Persaud grabbed 2 wickets and Popie Singh and Kris Sobhai claimed 1 wicket each.

Super Chargers.

The Hustlers opener Asif Ally is having a good run with the bat so far in the competition, put on a fine display of batting he batted to the end to finish with 48 not out. The score will not gave you a true picture of the resistance that the United Stars skipper Ivan and his team mates put up in containing the Hustlers batting. Skipper Ravin Ivan used 6 bowlers and tried switching them around many times as if just trying to buy some wickets. While the Hustlers batsmen dug in and bat 22 overs to reach their target.

Bobby Pahalad bowled his spell for 13 runs and took 1 wicket, Ivan and Kayoon spell cost only 24 and 22 runs respectively.  Had it not been for some buttery fingers in the field this game could well have been much closer. Sudesh got 33 and Kris score 20 to reach the winning target for the loss of 3 wickets.  Asif Ally won the man of the match for his top score of 48 runs not out.

New Horizon.

Super Chargers Division IB Champions

After a delay the game between Super Chargers and Better Hope got started in the New York Softball Cricket League Division IB finals last Sunday in Brooklyn. Super Chargers won the toss and stuck with an old method that when you win the toss in softball cricket, you must bat first. Well in the first 3 overs this looked like a bad decision for Super Chargers, as they loss two quick wickets and only a dozen runs in the book.

The young C. Rajpaul was bowling well; with 2 wickets gone Dharampal Singh took the crease. He started of very attacking and this work to his advantage as he struck Rajpaul for 14 runs in the first over he faced. The Better Hope bowlers was not giving up and they bowled tight especially to the other batsman Asif who was finding runs hard to get and did good  work with his feet  which prevented him from getting out.

While Singh continues to dominate with the bat the Better Hope fielders gave up at least two run out chances very early with very poor throwing. The running between Singh and Asif was bad, at one time both batsmen ended up at the bowler’s end but a throwing mistake and Asif was able to get back in time.

Brooklyn Boys

With Asif and Singh getting more confidence at the crease and the score continue to build and what could well be into the two hundreds, Asif was run out for a fighting 33 runs. Mohbair join Singh and they carry the score past the one hundred mark before Mohbair was out for 24.

Singh continues to strike the ball with power and looked set for a three figure score, but he got no help from the lower order batsmen. R. Razack bowling for Better Hope in the number six slot was able to contain the batting and finale got the wicket of Singh caught for 85. It was an excellent display of batting by Singh who took control of the Super Chargers innings.

With the fall of Singh’s wicket, R. Razack then dominate with the ball to close the Super Chargers innings on 176 all out and eight balls remaining in the allotted overs. Razack was superb with the ball and send back to the pavilion N. Singh, M. Ramkissoon and V. Singh for his Hat-Trick. Razack finish with figures of 5 for 23, C. Rajpaul 1 for 46 and K. Rajpaul 1 for 23.

Volcano

The Better Hope batsman took the crease knowing that they would have to look for quick runs. While Super Chargers knew they can depend on their five man pace attack. The Better Hope openers Moses Mahabeer and F. Razack struggle at the crease as Asif and Dharampal Singh continues to have a good game and was now doing it with the ball. Mahabeer was bowled by Singh and R. Razack who replaced him was also caught of Singh. R. Gopaul was introduced into the attack and he bowled F. Razack for 2, V. Singh had Aproo caught for 4.

The Better Hope batsmen were finding runs very difficult to get and struggled at the crease, but was able to defend their wicket until the twenty second over before they were all out for 109 runs. C. Rajpaul got 18, K. Rajpaul, K. Sanichar and Y. Singh scored 11 runs each, R. Razack 10 and 29 extras. Bowling for Super Chargers D. Singh grabbed 3-15, M. Ramkissoon3-23, K. Gopaul 2-21 and V. Singh and A. Ali each took 1 wicket. Dharampal Singh was awarded the man of the match for his all round performance 85 runs and 3 wickets for 15 runs.

New Horizon-Division II Champions

The newly form New Horizon, a break team away from Wakefield, was successful in its first try. Cecil Gunraj and Darren after many years playing for Wakefield and the team growing in membership decided it was time to make a move in a new direction. The New Horizon started very slow and lost their first two games of the season, but the guys didn’t gave up and continue to build and won their last 7 games to take the division IIA championship.

New Horizon took on Lions in the division II finals, the Lions was playing good cricket but when it matter the most their came up short. Lions batting first would only muster 111 in the book, with a good bowling attack this total still proved to be too small.

D. A. Singh top score for New Horizon with 34 not out and was given the man of the match award.

Brooklyn Boys Dominate With Perfection

Brooklyn Boys are Champions of the 2010 25 over competition. After making a bold move to the NYSCL, the champs are 9-0 this season, which proves to be the best record in the 25 over competition.

As the flip of the coin dropping into the favor of the champs, the talented Young Brothers Cricket Club were invited to take their best swing at the Brooklyn Boys dominating and stifling defense.

With a top secret from Baio Kalika who detect a change of batting line-up from Young Brothers.

Brooklyn Boys adjusted their bowling strategies and were able to gun down Young Brothers in 19 over allowing them to score a total of 95 runs.

Lefty Feroz Hussain had an incredible spell going 5 over 3-maidens 16-runs and 3-wickets, while Anil Kisson Kisson, Sheik Shankar, Prame Singh grab two wickets each and Bobby Bhadrasain one wicket.

Brooklyn Boys sent their opening pair to better 95 runs, Walter Shankar and Vick Singh who had a magnificent partnership of 71 runs, setting a vibrant tone to the game before Vick Singh who saved his break-out game for the finals was sent back for a speedy and splendid 23 runs while Walter Shankar pulled away the man of the match as he scored a game high 34 runs.
