ICC’s Development Programme Facility Fund
ICC wishes to clarify comments made by the USA Cricket Association (USACA) on 2 June 2014 regarding a facility grant application in Indianapolis.

The application was made to the ICC’s Development Programme Facility Fund (DPFF), and was received jointly from USACA and the City of Indianapolis. The application was to further upgrade the cricket facilities at the Indianapolis World Sports Park.

A criteria of the DPFF is that the applicant National Cricket Federation (USACA in this case) must be able to show long term control and rights of use over the facility detailed in the application. The application did not demonstrate this, and therefore was not supported.

This decision is, however, in no way a negative reflection on the City of Indianapolis or the commitment it has made to cricket in recent years.

For cricket to develop in the USA, as in all ICC members, the support of government partners is absolutely paramount. Through the building of two cricket grounds as part of the World Sports Park development, the City of Indianapolis has demonstrated a willingness to embrace cricket which is greatly appreciated.

With a sporting landscape that includes the Indianapolis 500, the Indianapolis Colts (NFL), the Indiana Pacers (NBA) and the headquarters of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA), we look forward to cricket being able to take advantage of the City of Indianapolis’ commitment to our sport in the future.
