Many people usually question the selectors, coaches, managers, and selection process of the regional cricket teams in New York, but many are not exposed with factual information regarding the governing body’s rules, commitment, and eligibility of the players.  It’s known that coaches, managers, regional directors, regional representative are the ones to take the heat for decisions made in selecting the “best” possible team.

Off course, we may have a few talented cricketers in the New York Region, but how many are committed?  Yes, all of us are committed to work, families, but planning, communication, and time management are also essential aspects of life long lessons.

One may say, it’s all about the “paper” “bread” “food” etc. but what messages are we sending to the younger generation of cricketers.  As a youngster, is it ok to accept financial support from a team to play cricket?  On the other hand, it’s encouraging to accept financial support (small stipends) that may further a young cricketer college education in the United States.  For example, stipends may be rewarded to purchase college books, metro cards, but is this an automatic gratuity to the players?  No, players must perform on the cricket field in order to be rewarded.

Furthermore, how many are familiar with the guidelines set fort by USACA when selecting any regional or national team?  For example, the USA national cricket team is expected to departure for Hong Kong next year, and many players expected for selection must be US citizens which actually makes sense, because “come on” you are representing the big  U S of A, but there must be exceptions for other players as well.  Rules are rules, and we all must follow the rules set fort by the governing body via USACA or ICC.
