The Southern California Cricket Association (SCCA) is extending an invitation to all cricket teams to participate in its LA Open 2020 Cricket Tournament this May. The exciting and action-packed T20 tournament will be played during the 2020 Memorial Day weekend (May 22nd, 23rd, 24th & 25th) at the Woodley Park Cricket Fields in sunny Los Angeles, California.

SCCA will host the tournament at the world-class real turf pitches and facilities of Woodley Park in Van Nuys, CA. Woodley Park, which has become a Shangri-La to cricketers around the world, has played host to several high profile cricket matches, tournaments, and cricketers. The facility was host to an India vs. Australia match in 1999 featuring VVS Laxman and Adam Gilchrist. India great Virender Sehwag also played there in 2007. The Hollywood Ashes have been played every year at Woodley Park, where Tinseltown’s expatriates come to play as they have done since the 1930s, to as recently as 2019 when Woodley Park hosted the ICC World Qualifiers and USA T20 Selection Camp.

The tournament will be conducted in the accessible T20 format and is expected to see several top regional, American, and international cricketers involved. All matches will be streamed ‘live’ on CricClubs.com, and SCCA is promising the best of hospitality and entertainment. They are also promising the tournament will be organized and played with the utmost integrity, fairness, and respect for the great “Gentlemen’s Sport.”

Teams will vie for a total prize purse of US$50,000.00, and the entry fee is set at US$3,000.00 per team. This is an Open Tournament, and teams from all over are invited to register. The cut-off for the total number of teams is 24. Those interested must register early before all the spots are filled.
