Maryland Youth Cricket is bursting with pride as Lisa Ramjit and Alicia Fernando were selected to participate in Team USA women’s selection camp.

A few years removed from winning a state 11U championship as Bowie’s opening batters, Lisa Ramjit and Alicia Fernando now fly together to Florida for the Team USA women’s selection camp. These two great cricketers have been making a name for themselves for some time now.

In 2017, Lisa became the first Maryland Youth Cricket bowler to take five wickets in a match, and last June, Lisa and Alicia were the top run scorers at the Girls Cricket League tournament played at Central Broward Regional Park. Then in October, Lisa was named best batter at the NYCL Girls tournament, while Alicia’s 64 runs was also recognized as a top performance.

Now, our young cricketers will be competing against established women cricketers for a spot on the USA national side, where they would try to help the USA qualify for the ICC Twenty20 World Cup 2020 in Australia!

This is a momentous occasion, not just for Lisa and Alicia, but for all of us at Maryland Youth Cricket, who are seeing our players grow up and move onto the world stage.

Here’s the official announcement.

Good luck to Lisa and Alicia, and go Team Maryland!
