The New York Cricket Region youth selectors have selected a fourteen man squad and 3 standbys to represent the region at the 2011 USACA national U19 tournament tentatively scheduled for Columbus Day weekend in California.

Greg Sewdial will skipper the team to California.

Although at this time the tournament appears to be in jeopardy due to the lack of funding, the NYCR youth selectors felt that the regional team needed to be ready in the event that a last minute confirmation or cancellation of the tournament was announced. With that said, secondary plans are being put in place to have the regional team travel to Florida or California in the event that the tournament is cancelled by USACA.

Over the past 2 months, the players have been involved in the New York Cricket Region U 19 tournament in addition to 3 trial matches organized by the NYCR region.  With the final fourteen now selected, preparations will continue under the management staff.

The NYCR U19 team will be captained by USA U19 captain Gregory Sewdial and he will have as his deputy his USA team mate Prashanth Nair.  The squad also includes USA players Trevor Singh, Amarnauth Persaud and Travis Ross.  The team will be coached by USA coach Milton Pydana and managed by Clifford Hinds.

Supporters and well wishers are invited to a special brunch to raise funds for the team this Sunday October 2nd, 2011 at Naresa Palace in Queens, NY.  For tickets please contact Mr. Nigel Harper (516) 315 8472 or Clifford Hinds (862) 224-8662. Tickets are $20.
