A patient 50 from Micheal Noble and a web-spinning 4 overs for 12 runs with 3 wickets from veteran Ramratan Jagnarine spurred the Achievers Real Estate NY, Inc. sponsored Liberty Sports Club (LSC) past East Side Warriors (ESW).

LSC won the toss and chose to bat first on a at times tricky to negotiate Brentwood II wicket. With openers removed early Noble was left to rebuild the LSC innings. The right hander played a patient innings working the ball around and capitalizing on the odd boundaries.

The rest of the LSC batsmen all got decent starts but were not able to carry on with Imtiaz Hassan and Thakur Singh managing 17 each to lend support. The LSC innings ended on 189 all out off of 37 overs.

Bowling for ESW Saud Alvi picked up 5 wickets for 32 runs and was supported by Ashon Quadeer and Kashif Naseem who picked up 2 wickets each.

The men in blue got off to a spirited start in their defense. ESW opener Ali Alvi opted to charge paceman Terrence Madramootoo on the very first ball only to be greeted with a sharp bouncer in the armpit region. From there the LSC attack would not allow their opposition to settle.

Fellow opening bowler, Imtiaz Hassan (3 for 40), would strike early along with Terrence (1 for 25) to get rid of the number 2 and 3 batsmen. Vijendra Singh (2 for 19) also delivered the goods as the first change option when he rearranged the furniture of the #1 and #4 batsmen.

Ramratan Jagnarine entered the attack at this stage and cleaned up the middle and lower order with his experienced off spinners. Jags picked up 3 cheap wickets for 12 runs off 4 overs.

ESW’s innings came to an end after 27th over when they were all out for 108.

Liberty Sports Club heads into the Memorial Day Weekend break with 8 points in the competitive EACA Power40 Zone I points table (Game 1 – Tied With Richmond Hill Cricket Club, Game 2 – Loss to Everest/ACS, Game 3 – Win against East Side Warriors).
