Baskhar Yadram (67*), Akeem Dodson (77*), Naresh Rambharos (88) and Azeem Khan 60 all scored half-centuries for The Blue Nation this past weekend.

Richmond Hill Liberty and Liberty Lions continue to dominate the ongoing New York National Cricket League (NYNCL) 40 and 30 overs season matches as both the teams outclassed the opposition sides. Naresh Rambharos 88 (73), Azeemuddin Khan 60(85), Akeem Dodson 77(88), and Baskhar Yadram 67(56) were the high scorers of their respective matches while Christopher Blucher 3/20, Michael Sultan 2/17 and Avo Yogeshwar Singh 3 for 19 played a pivotal role in team’s success with the ball.

Richmond Hill Liberty 174/8(30.0 Overs) Won by 64 runs against Cricket Boss XI: 111/10(23.1 Overs)

Despite a shaky start after winning the toss and deciding to bat first against Cricket Boss XI Akeem Dodson remained steadfast and negated the threat posed by Faiz Azeez who took 4 wickets upfront to challenge the batting ranks of the team. At one stage scorecard showed ominous signs for the invincible side of the tournament as they were confined to 23 for the loss of 5 wickets but a resilient knock of 77 from the bat of Akeem Dodson and some handy partnerships at the end managed a challenging total of 174 for RHL in their quota of 30 overs. In return, a collective bowling effort led by Michael Sultan economical spell of 2 for 17 and 2 wickets each by Terrence Madramootoo and Leon Mohabir ensured smooth victory for the side. RHL remains at the top of the Group A table with 12 points.

Avo Yogeshwar Singh 3 for 19 in his 6 overs and a share of 2 wickets each from Assad Fudadin, Andrew Tomby, and Kevin Ramdeen made sure the Meten Meer Zorg CC did not fly away with runs after Liberty Lions opted to boll first by calling the toss correctly. MMZ were bowled out for 168 in the second last over of the innings and in reply, it was smooth sailing for Liberty Lions batsmen who chased down the target in 23 overs. Baskhar Yadram earned the Man of the Match award for his unbeaten 67 of just 56 deliveries. Liberty Lions remain at the number 4 spot in their Group B.

RHL won the toss and elected to bat first against FCC in the 40 overs game played on Sunday and it was one-way traffic as RHL looked in cruise control to conclude a comprehensive win over the opposition side. A dominant 136 run stand between the openers laid down the foundation of a challenging total with Naresh Rambharos striking the ball from one end and Azeemuddin Khan held the innings from the other. Naresh Rambharos fell for 88 in just 73 balls and Azeem was runout but not long before scoring a half-century, he finished with 60 runs. The following batsmen scored at a healthy strike rate to take the team total to 300 for 5 in 40 overs. In reply, RHL blew apart the batting unit of FCC as they failed to cross triple-figure and surrender on 96 for 9 in 30 overs. Christopher Blucher ripped the heart out of FCC batsmen as he led the bowling charts with 3 wickets giving away just 20 runs in the process. Naresh Rambharos was awarded the MOM award for his fiery innings of 88 as RHL continued to dominate the 40 overs season.
