In hot and humid condition last Saturday at Baisley Pond Park, EACA LIONS dominate the young Tri-State Tigers team mostly made up under-17 and under-15 players who represent the New York Region.

The game was reduced to 30 overs due to the heat index that saw the thermometer reads over 105 degrees.

Skipper Trevis Ross won the toss and without hesitation decided to bat first. Trevis Ross and Awaz Haseldar open the batting and straight away both batsmen showed no mercy for the youngsters. The two of them put on over one hundred and fifty runs partnership, Skipper Ross made a swashbuckling 103 retired which includes 16 fours and 3 sixes. Awaz was out stumped for a well played 67 which includes 1 six and 11 fours.

Syed Hussain and Altaf Habibulla batted together and put on another century partnership, first to go was Syed Hussain trying to go big and hold out to cover for a well played 42.With five overs remain and the score board reads 300 for 3 off 25 overs, Manager Ajaz Asgarally wanted to give all his batsmen a chance, Altaf Habibulla half century includes eight glorious fours. With the promising all rounder Rocky Kowchai  and Rayhanul Islam at the crease the pair saw EACA reaching a target of 334 for 7 off their allotted 30 overs. Kowchai made 31 and Islam 22. It was a very tough day for the Tri State youngster with the temperature over one hundred degree.

Three Hundred and Thirty Four look like a daunting task for the Tri State youths, however these Tigers had different ideas .With the hard hitting Troy Mars and the dependable Clifford Hamilton opened the batting .Clifford was out caught behind by Rocky Kowchai off Wazim Shaw for 10 after hitting 2 glorious fours through cover. In came to the crease came the promising Rafeek Nazir joined Mars who was hitting fours all over the cage having the Lions scrambling to the fence on many occasion. Mars was out caught by Ross off Altaf for 31. Rafeek batted well for a well played 71 which includes 9 glorious fours. The EACA Lions were finding it very difficult in the 105 degree, and were happy to see the back of Rafeek and Mars. Tri State Tigers eventually finish with a decent score of 227 for 7 off 30 overs with Anil Singh, Deopaul and A. Herilall all getting double figures.

It was a very exciting to see all the youths performing, some of them in front of their parents. On hand to see the youths performed was the coach and manager for the New York Region under cricket19 team Mr. Milton Pydanna and Mr. Clifford Hinds. Thanks to Mr. Rudy Persaud, Mr. Clifford Hinds and Mr. Ajaz Asgarally in insuring the youths were fed and have enough water to deal with the Heat.

The next game is on Saturday at the Cage with EACA LIONS taking on New York Academy. Game starts at 10:30 am.
