Sunrise Left Apollo 11 Alienated As They Win Final

In the middle of summer it takes many sacrifices and dedication from players to be at the games every Sunday. With its members traveling and guys out with injures Sunrise weather tough moments to stay competitive this summer. At the end in the NYSCL knock out competition Sunrise members was rewarded as they left Apollo 11 alienated to take the Division 1 title.

From the start of this competition Sunrise players made it look easy chasing down big totals and winning comfortable. The team spirits and chemistry was at it peaks entering the final as they win the toss and put in Apollo to bat. Cecil Hodge and Navindra opened looking to give their team a solid start. However facing Khemraj Somaru and Rohit Kowlesser Sunrise openers they realized that this bowling attack is on target. Hodge was sent back as he caught behind off the bowling of Rohit for 1 while Khemraj sent Navin packing for a duck with the score read 2 for 4.   Mahindra and Brian looks to stable their batting with timely hitting. However Rohit bowling in the right areas in his second over he had them both removed caught as Apollo was 16 for 4 in 4 overs. With his team roughed up by Sunrise bowlers Omesh captain of Apollo was faced with a dilemma to solve. Omesh looked sharp hitting some clean shots off leg try to give his team a momentum. While it lost he saw Mark remove by Khemraj without scoring and another setback for Apollo.

Omesh was joined by the veteran Jonny Gocool and they both showed success against Sunrise bowlers building the only partnership of the game. Omesh connect for a towering six down square leg but his success was short lived as he fell victim to Deryck Basdeo caught for 12.  Johnny continues to score while his partners on the other hand were not supporting him. Manoj was bowled by Wahab Husain for 1. As Michael Jogiram bowling his first over looking like a deadly closer send Apollo remaining batsmen packing removing Shawn stumps and seeing Roger and Bawan run out. Johnny the lone man standing at the end for Apollo made an important 17 as his team was bowled out in 10 overs for 60. It was not the score Apollo hoped for but with Sunrise bowling and defensive fielding energized from the start Apollo batsmen was unable to build a positive batting momentum.

Sunrise bowlers were sharp as Rohit Kowlesser lead his team with 3 for 8, while Khemraj Somaru was fierce in his bowling spell went for 2 for 8. Wahab Husain, Deryck Basdeo and Michael Jogiram all picked up 1 wicket.

In reply, Sunrise opening pair Roopnarine Dayal, Sunrise captain, and Deryck Basdeo knows that they need to bat responsible. Omesh opened for Apollo and was poised to put a fight as he only give up 2 runs to start. However in next over Deryck welcome Navin in his first over with back to back boundary building a solid batting momentum. Deryck whose batting fueled the energy for his team during the competition took the batting offensive to Apollo bowlers. While Dayal was patient picking up single Deryck went on a batting rampage as he was hitting Apollo bowlers around the park. In the 3rd overs and the score at 21 Dayal was caught of the blowing of Omesh. Rajesh Harriprashad another Sunrise batsmen who was instrumental in taking his team to the final joined Deryck.  As Deryck continued to bat solid he raced away toward Apollo total score along with Rajesh. Apollo bowlers seemed to be no match to Deryck who was punishing them. In the 6 over Apollo find success in having Deryck caught. However, Deryck already did the damage and putting his team in a poised winning position with the score at 53 for 2. Deyrck batting was flamboyant as he mass 35 in jiffy which includes 7 boundaries. Rajesh who joined Alix Husain wrapped up the game. Rajesh hit a towering six to long off brining victory to his team. Sunrise scored 64 to win in 7.1 over as its members were exuberant and celebrate their victory. Apollo members showed a fight but Deryck bat was too much to overcome as Omen bowled 2 for 23.
