USACA Board of Directors,
Firstly, I must congratulate the New York Cricket Region (NYCR) for holding election in a timely manner — before the 2011 cricket season begins.
Secondly, I would like to congratulate the outgoing NYCR Regional Director (Mr. Caesar) and his Election Committee for their thoughtfulness and vision in implementing a corporate recruitment structure in seeking candidates for the various positions on the New York Cricket Region Board.
This is a step in the right direction.

New York Cricket Region

Having said the above, I spoke with a few NYCR Board members and Candidates and I am shocked to hear that the Candidates and Boards members did not complete their background checks.

Lester Hooper pleaded guilty to a crime in 2009 and he is still on probation.
Additionally, no one checked their residency status for New York and the United States of America.

At least one member that got elected to the NYCR Board and voted to selected the NYCR Regional Rep. does not reside in New York.

I was wondering how could this have happened?

Per the USACA Constitution, aren’t the NYCR and USACA supposed to verify that the credentials for each Candidate and Board members (league presidents) and have them submit to a background check before proceeding with elections?
USACA CONSTITUTION

Article XXI:

Section 2: Eligibility
Any individual who is eighteen years of age or older and who is a legal permanent residents of the United States of America and who has the power under the law to contract, may be nominated for election to the Board.

Section 3: Nomination of Board Members

Nomination for election as a member of the Board shall occur in accordance with the following:

i. All nominations must be in writing and shall state the legal name and contact information of the person being nominated and must be sent to the Executive Secretary no later than 30 days prior to the elections.

ii. The Executive Secretary must immediately notify the individual of his nomination.

iii. Within 5 days of notification, the nominee must accept the nomination in writing and shall provide all relevant information to complete a background check, to the entity selected by the Board to conduct the background checks.

iv. All valid nominations must be circulated to the legitimate members at least 21 days prior to the elections.

Section 4: The candidate who emerges with the majority of votes shall serve in the respective capacity for a period of three (3) years.

Background check
The process of looking up official records about a person and shall include the following: criminal history and verification of academic credentials. Any background check which reveals fraud, theft, embezzlement, sexual offenses or habitual drunkenness, shall automatically preclude the nominee from holding office on the Board.

When is the madness going to stop?

What is the role of the secretary of the USACA?

It seems like he is more concerned about his friends getting elected rather than overseeing the electoral process for compliance?

Can the USACA Board investigate the results of the New York Regional Elections held May 1, 2011?

Maybe, investigative reporters such as Sam Soopersaud (NY) and John L. Aaron (secretary, USACA) can assist with this investigation and report their findings back to the USACA Board and to the general public.
