Thirty Players Invited To Specialist Skill Development Camp
The USA Men’s and Women’s Selection Panels today announced a group of players invited to a Specialist Skill Development Camp at Moosa Stadium in Houston from April 6 – 9, 2017.
The camp will involve 18 senior men’s players, alongside six women’s players and six under 18 players.
Speaking about the Specialist Skills Camp Tom Evans, ICC Americas USA Cricket Manager, said “The camp is a great opportunity for some of the top players across men’s, women’s and youth squads to get together and do some focused training with some excellent domestic and international coaches. The men’s selection panel has included an extended squad of 18 for the senior men’s group given their international event, WCL 3, is fast approaching. A smaller number of women and under 18s has been included as those squads have a number of additional combines, camps and trials coming up over the next two or three months before their international events.”
Commenting on the senior men’s group, Ricardo Powell, USA Chairman of Selectors, said “We believe the nucleus of the World Cricket League 3 squad will come from this group of 18 senior players. However, we may consider players from outside of this group as required prior to submitting the final tournament squad to the ICC on April 21st.”
The U18’s and Women’s players have been selected by the relevant Selection Panel based on performances in last year’s USA Combines and National squad events for under 18s in Houston and womens in Philadelphia.
