West Indies ‘B’ brushed aside Canada by five wickets in the second and final 50-over tour match on Friday at Maple Leaf ground, King City, Toronto.

At the same facility two days ago, West Indies ‘B’ fired in all cylinders to inflict a 69-run whipping on the hosts and Friday’s proceedings were a replication for the Caribbean boys.

West Indies ‘B’ won the toss and asked Canada to bat first. Even though the pitch looked perfect for batting and wonderful conditions for cricket, the Canadians squandered the chance and were folded for a meagre 125 in 38.1 overs.

West Indies ‘B’, who recently claimed the Cricket Canada SummerfestT20 trophy by winning three matches, reached the target in the 23rd over.

Justin Greaves, the Barbadian didn’t open the batting but hit a top-score of 36 which counted five fours and a six from 26 balls.
Alick Athanaze was also in fine form to make a steady workman-liked 33 while several other batsmen looked comfortable. Wicketkeeper/batsman Jahmar Hamilton continued his good run by supporting with 32.

Despite there was an early setback having lost openers Keacy Carty (04) and Kimani (04), the tourists rallied along with their seasoned players to carry through the responsibility. Sunil Ambris also fell quickly only contributed 12 runs.

Medium-pacer Cecil Perves, who accounted for the early breakthrough, finished with two wickets for 26 from five overs while left-arm spinner Mahadeo Moonesar collected two for 33 off 6.1 overs.

Canada began their innings precariously losing their first wicket when the score was just 02 but opener Rodrigo Thomas and number three batsman Navneet Dhaliwal associated with a promising 45-run second-wicket stand. Thomas gathered 18 runs while Dhaliwah accumulated 24 of them.

West Indies ‘B’ must be indebted to left-arm spinner Jomel Warrican, who grabbed four wickets for 20 runs from ten tidy overs while another left-arm bowler Jeavor Royal snapping four wickets as well conceding 42 runs from his ten-overs.

Apart from Dhaliwah’s innings, veteran all-rounder Rizman Cheema chipped in with 18 and 17 from Umair Ghani.

Srimantha Wijeyerate (02), Nikhil Dutta (08), Mark Montfort (04), Sulfar Bin Zafar (08) and Dillon Heyliger (00) are some of the regular members on the senior national team but failed to make an impression on this occasion.

Meanwhile, coach of Canada Henry Osinde stated just after the conclusion of the game that the West Indies ‘B’ was very competitive in both games and would have done well in all departments. However, the former Canada fast-bowler mentioned that Canada had experimented on few new players and with the lack of preparations may have contributed to his side’s poor showing.
