New York CL won the toss and batted first at Whitestone Park in the Bronx. At 81 for 2 wickets after only 12 overs CCL was expecting to chase a huge target. But with the introduction of the spinners the scoring rate decreased considerably and wickets started to tumble. Vijay Seonarine at one end and Sarrmad Khan at the other see NYCL all out for a meager 117 runs. Vijay taking 3 wickets and Sarrmad 3.

Commonwealth started with all guns blazing and at one point looking to reach the target without loss. Waheed of the New Star CC made a blistering 49 with 3 sixes and 5 fours. He was matched stroke for stroke by Asif of Yonkers Eagles CC who cracked 37 scintillating runs including 2 sixes and 4 fours.

In the end it was 22-year old Azeem Khan of the Scorpions CC who hit the winning run. He ended up with 27 not out. The average age of the CCL team that played the NYCL was 26 years. The policy there is that the youths must be encouraged.

CCL is anxiously waiting to play the Semi Final against the NYC Parks team next week.
