Unity Club Wins Comfortably
Unity Club sounded a warning to its rivals by producing a solid performance to win their opening match of the New York Softball Cricket League (NYSCL) 30 overs competition last Sunday.
On a very hot and humid day, Unity defeated United brothers by six wickets with a whopping nine overs to spare at the Livonia ground.
After winning the toss and decided to bat first, United Brothers were bowled out for 163 runs in 27.3 overs to which Unity cruised past in reply, scoring 164-4 in 21 overs.
Michael Vishnu spearheaded the victory, slamming 70 not out while Amit Tulsie supported well with 32.
Earlier veteran Vibert Mc Lennon wrecked United Brothers, bagging five wickets for right runs. Only Alvin Gopaul and Ricky Sookhoo who rattled up fine scores of 60 each, showed any resistance to Unity’s bowling. Q. Armstrong supported Mc Lennon with 2-18.
After the game both teams displayed good camaraderie and respect to each other. Unity’s players congratulated their management and look forward to continued progress for the remainder of the competition.
Wolfpack dominate Horizon in opener
Wolfpack defeated Horizon by 6 wickets in division 1B 30 competitions. Horizon won the toss and decided to take first strike. After two over the first three batsmen were sent back with the score on 1 run. R. Mayers try to restore order but didn’t get any support from the other side as wickets keep falling at regular interval.
Mayers was eventually caught for a well played 21 runs. S.Jackson made a blistering 25 runs cracking 2×6 and 3×4. Horizon was bowled out for 83 in 19 overs. R. Baichoolall was on target picking up 4 for 9 runs in his 6 overs and W. Asrula was also bringing the heat picking up 3 for 17 in 5 overs.
Wolfpack in reply finish off the require total for the lost of 4 wickets in 15 overs with Z. Bacchus making 34 not out which included 4×4 and 1×6. S. Adam batted patiently for his 16 runs with support coming from K. Ramcharran and E. Jaikarran 14 and 12 runs respectively to see their team to victory. S. Jackson was Horizon most successful bowler picking up 3 for 24 in his 6 overs.
