A highlight of the evening was a fundraising effort in the name of Adam Sanford and the presentation of a USD$1,000.00 check to the Coulibistrie Primary School in Dominica, devastated by the recent tropical storm Erika. The former Windies Test player and his wife Jo were recognized for their recent humanitarian effort on behalf of the people of Dominica affected by the storm Erika.

Addressing the dinner guests, Mr. Sanford with his beautiful wife at his side, thanked the New York cricket community and Atlantis for positively responding to his appeal on behalf of the people of Dominica, adding, “My wife and I were heartened by the outpouring of support from so many people, and we were able to ship 15 barrels of much needed supplies to Dominica.”

Former West Indies Test player and an Atlantis Honorary Lifetime Member Joe Solomon, Eastern American Cricket Association president Rudy Persaud, and with several former Atlantis lifetime honorees were in attendance at the dinner.

Atlantis’ 2015 season performance awards were dominated by all-rounder Keon Lake who carted off seven performance awards, followed by wicket-keeper batsman Treon Ford and all-rounder Prashanth Nair. This year’s MVP is Atlantis’ skipper Alex Amsterdam who is currently preparing to participate in the Windies Nagico Super50 cricket competition next year in the Caribbean, and as part of the ICC Americas XI.

A recognition plaque was presented to Leslie “Tulu” Lewis, Atlantis’ liaison officer and a former Atlantis pace bowler, for his continued dedication and all round support of Atlantis membership initiatives. Mr. Lewis is also an Honorary Lifetime Member of the club.

Mr. Welcome in a charge to the members of Atlantis, said, “To survive, grow and prosper, we have to adapt to the socioeconomic issues of the times. We have to focus on building a strong base to overcome the new and varied challenges we will encounter. We must not take our long and successful history for granted. The future is not guaranteed. Win or lose, let us be champions at promoting the spirit of this wonderful game called cricket.”
