A New York/Connecticut team lead by Derrick Kallicharran recently traveled to Palm Bay, Florida to take on a Palm Bay XI for 2nd Annual Mohamed Kamal Memorial match.
New York/Connecticut won the toss and elected bat first on a warm day, reaching 206 foe 4 in 35 overs. Derrick Kallicharran, 45 not out, Vinay Inala, 40, and Bisham Bahadur, 26.
Bowling for Palm Bay: E. Lewis with 2-23 and M. Shyam with 2-40 were the pick of the Palm Bay bowlers.
In response Palm Bay were scuttled out for 147. Das Narain, 35 and E. France, 39 were the only Palm Bay batsmen to trouble the New York/Connecticut bowlers.
Bowling for New York/Connecticut; Derrick Kallicharran, 3-23, Anil Sahaman, 3-39 and Alvin Mangru, 2-5 were the principal scalpers.
Players from both sides thanked the Kamal Family for letting them participate in this annual event, and the Kamal family in return thanked the players for keeping the memory of Mohamed Kamal alive.
The New York/Connecticut team also thanked Judge Majeed for his contributions and for providing such a beautiful ground for the match. Trophies were presented to the Best Batsmen and Bowlers on both sides, courtesy of the Kamal family.
The memorial event was graced by the presence of Faoud Bacchus and Stephen Bamfield, former West Indies and Guyana batsmen, respectively.
