Tahmid Ahmed Bags 6 For 16, Anis Vohra And Ruthvik Vemareddy Hits Half Centuries

Panthers Beat DB-ES Convincingly
Playing against DB-ES, Panthers once again showed composure and made a competitive total of 159. Their opener Anvesh Chikulapalli and Vishnu Kiran, coming in at 3, anchored more than half of their innings. Anvesh made a patient 24 while Kiran made a run a ball 26. Tahmid Ahmad and Sampath Reddy Baddam put together a fighting partnership of over 40 runs for the 9th wicket and helped panthers post 159. Tahmid made a 22 ball 30 while Sampath made a 13 ball 22.
Chasing 160 DB-ES was never in the chase as they kept losing wickets and none of their batsman carried on making a big score. Salman Pervez picked up 4 wickets while Dinesh Bharadwaj picked up 3 wickets. For his brisk lower order innings that pushed the Panthers innings beyond 150, Tahmid was adjudged the Man of the Match.
All Round Knights Top The Highlanders
Batting first, Knights of Albany posted a mammoth 195 courtesy of a top innings of 82 not out from their in-form opener Ruthvik Vemareddy. Ruthvik, who played through the innings without getting dismissed, started off slowly, then consolidated in the middle overs and accelerated at the death. He built good partnerships with the other batsman and kept the Highlanders at bay through out the innings. Ijaz Safi coming in at 6 scored an unbeaten run a ball 28 and helped the Knights with the acceleration in the death overs. Chasing a stiff 196 to win, the Highlanders lost 4 quick wickets in no time and were in back foot even before they could make a case.
Shahzad Butt, the rollicking Highlanders opener and their skipper Ashok Adikoppula then put together a fighting partnership that gave a semblance of hope for the Highlanders. But with the asking rate going high, Ashok perished for 28 while trying to go over the top while Shahzad got bowled by a peach of a ball from Arun Ghanta, the Knights Vice-captain. Shahzad made an attacking 64 from 67 balls that had 6 boundaries and a huge six. Highlanders eventually folded for 134. For his top innings of 82 that carried the Knights innings, Ruthvik Reddy was adjudged the man of the match.
Panthers Stun Good Vibes With A Record Victory
The resurgent Panthers team sent shockwaves across the Good vibes camp with their huge upset win. Bowling first, the Panthers knocked off good vibes for a record low score of 37 courtesy of brilliant attacking bowling from their pace spearhead Tahmid Ahmed. He bowled with pace and vigor, attacked the stumps and posed difficult questions for the good Vibes batman.
None of the Good Vibes batsman entered the double figures as Tahmid rolled over their line up with a brilliant 6 wicket haul that had 5 batsmen bowled. Chasing 38 to win, the Panthers romped home in 7overs for the loss of 2 wickets. For his brilliant bowling spell of 5-0-16-6 that helped bundle Good Vibes for a low score, Tahmid was adjudged the Man of the Match.
Gujarat Lions Roll Over DB-ES Easily
Batting first DB-ES got all out for 89. Dany Joseph made 21. Bhavik Dalsania picked up 3 wickets in his tidy spell. Chasing an easy 90 to win, the Gujarat Lions completed the chase in 18 overs. Bhavik Dalsania was the man of the match for his 3-wicket opening burst.
JET Albany Claim An Easy Win Over The United Warriors
Batting first, United Warriors posted a modest 127 in their 30 overs. Nirav Mistry tops scored with 34 while none of the other batsmen made a significant contribution. For the JETS, Chaitanya Donthineni, Vishva Velichala and Chakri Reddy picked up 2 wickets a piece. Chasing 128 to win, the powerful JETS batting line-up rode on top of the stylish Anand Kalukuri and aced the chase in 26 overs.
Anand, in excellent from throughout the season, was in his usual-self flicking and lofting balls with ease. He finished unbeaten with an attacking innings of 61 from just 53 balls that had 4 sixes and 3 boundaries. Rahul Bandaru gave him company at the other end with a patient 23. For his attacking innings that sealed the chase easily, Anand Kalukuri was adjudged the Man of the Match.
United Warriors Win A Thriller Against The Panthers
Batting first, United warriors posted a fighting score of 141. Harsh Jogi, their opener top scored with a free stroking 40 that had 4 boundaries and a huge six but none of their middle order batsmen gave him enough support as the Panthers made early in roads in to their lineup. Salman Pervez and Tahmid Ahmed and Ravi Soda were the chief destroyers as picked up 7 wickets between them. Just when the United Warriors were reeling at 92 for the loss of 8 wickets, Naveen Punyala and Rahul Dhole produced a fighting partnership that brought the warriors form the brink both put together a 49-run partnership and helped warriors post 141. Naveen and Rahul remained unbeaten on 22 and 26 respectively.
Chasing 142 to win, the Panthers lost their openers within the first 2 overs. Their batting mainstay Kiran Vishnu took the game deep with his well made 42 runs. Other batsmen rallied around him and gave able support to him. But he got out when his team needed 35 runs off the last 30 balls of the bowling of Naveen Punyala. With 16 needed off the last over, Bharathwaj Samavedam did the job for the United Warriors by giving away only 8 runs. For his breezy innings of 40 at the top of the innings, Harsh Jogi was adjudged the Man of the match.
Gujarat Lions Beat The Top Of The Table Knights Of Albany In A Close Game
Gujarat Lions rode on the back of their opener Anis Vohra and posted an excellent 175 against the Knights of Albany. Anis, playing the first game of the season, played through the innings and opened-up in the latter half of the innings scoring an excellent 81 off just 77 balls. His innings included 6 huge sixes and 3 boundaries. But Anis was riding his luck as 5 off his catches were dropped and he took full advantage of the chances and made the Knights to pay with his blistering innings. Krunal Patel coming in at 7 gave him able company with his cameo of 32 off just 26 balls that included a six and 3 fours. Chasing a challenging 175 to win and without their inform opener Ruthvik, Knights lost 2 wickets within the first 3 overs.
But their skipper Raj Ardham and their star all rounder Vamsidhar Varmakonda put together a 71-run partnership and kept the Knights in the game. But they both got out in quick succession and that opened the gates for the Gujarat Lions. Raj Ardham made 35 while Vamshi made 25. Arun Ghanta then took over the mantle and got the Knights close to the target but that was not enough as Knights got all out for 157 in 28.3 overs. Arun made a 32 ball 37 with 4 boundaries in it. For his attacking innings of 81 that helped the Gujarat Lions post 175, Anis Vohra was adjudged the man of the match.
Highlanders Trump DB-ES In A One Side Game
Batting first DB-ES got all-out for 96 courtesy of tight bowling from the Highlanders. Mike Persaud, the senior statemen from the Highlanders team, bowled a brilliant spell of swin bowling claiming 3 wickets for 18 runs in his 6 overs. Farooq Ramzan helped cleaning up the tail with his 3 wickets in 9 balls.
Chasing 99 to win, Highlanders started off cautiously trying to not lose wickets with the new ball. Once the initial phase was safely negotiated without much damage, the Highlanders vice-captain Shoaib Hassan put on a show with his batting fireworks. In all he scored 5 boundaries and dispatched 2 balls over the high trees deep in to the woods for 2 humongous sixes. He finished the chase in 16 overs and remained unbeaten on 40 off just 23 balls and for this effort, he was adjudged the Man of the match.
Good Vybz Ace The Highest Chase Of The Season Over The JETS
JETS, riding on their strong middle order, posted an excellent 171 against a depleted Good Vybz bowling attack. It was Anand Kalukuri, their Mr. consistent, who once again put his hand up and made 42 that had 5 beautiful boundaries in it. He and Pardha, their other start all-rounder, put together a 50-run partnership when they were in a spot of bother at 86 for 4 in 16 overs. Pardha and Anand put away the ball balls and kept the score board ticking with their busy game. Pardha was out for a well made 33. Chaitanya Donthineni and Sahil Chaudhry gave the finishing touches with their brief cameos. For Good Vybz, It was John Florent, their senior player cum coach who picked up 3 wickets with his tidy bowling.
Chasing an imposing 172 in a must win game, Good Vybz found support in their Sinewy southpaw, Kelvin Sawh, the man for big moments. He and the other opener, Renny Jainabi, gave the Vybz a brisk start that they badly needed. But Renny got out soon for 20 just when he was looking good for a big one. Kelvin carried on and played till the 15th over, anchoring the innings with a well made 36 from 41 balls. Vybz were 99 for 3 at the end of the 17th over and they just needed 70 odd runs from 13 overs. Their lower order rallied together producing small cameos one after the other and helped ace the chase with 7 balls to spare. Pamesh Sawh stole the show by hitting 3 sixes in the last 2 overs thereby helping the vybz get over the line. For his all-round effort of 3 wickets and an important cameo of 19 runs, John Florent was adjudged the man of the match.
