Officials of the Friends of Former Guyana Cricketers group have set the ball rolling towards its goal of honoring and helping players who represented the country over the years.
Already the group has been registered, acquiring its tax ID number as a non-profit organization and bank account. It is using Exit Realty Lifestyle real estate company on Jamaica Avenue as its temporary base.
A meeting for all executive officers and interested members of the public is slated for next Saturday from April 9 from 1pm at Exit Realty on 215-15 Jamaica Avenue, Queens Village.
Updated plans will be made at the meeting including those for the staging of the group’s first activity of two limited overs games in Guyana later this year to honor ex opening batsman Andrew Lyght who died a few years ago.
Donations from well wishers from New York and beyond can be made by dialing the telephone numbers of Friends of Former Guyana Cricketers president Deryck Kallicharran 917-573-8073, patron Jai Sharma 347-998-8227 or secretary Terry Etwaroo 718-848-7600 and Victor Benjamin at 718-753-2463 among others.
