The USA Under-19 side produced a commanding display at the Param Veers Sports Complex, Ground 1, on Tues., August 12, dismantling Argentina Under-19 in a one-sided contest during the ICC U19 Men’s Cricket World Cup Americas Qualifier. The match, which lasted barely over 12 overs in total, saw the Americans dominate with both ball and bat to register a thumping nine-wicket victory.

Winning the toss, USA captain opted to field first, a decision that paid immediate dividends. The Argentine innings unraveled almost from the first ball. Supransh Kumar and Sabrish Parsad shared the new ball and ripped through the top order with precision seam bowling. Kumar struck first, removing opener Juan Moline for a duck in just the second delivery of the match. Parsad joined the party soon after, dismissing Otto Sorondo and captain Valentin Bur within his first two overs.

The visitors struggled to rotate the strike, let alone find boundaries, as the USA attack maintained relentless pressure. Kumar’s pace and movement fetched him figures of 4-1-7-3, while Parsad matched the feat with 4-2-8-3, showcasing both accuracy and control.

When Ansh Rai was introduced into the attack, the collapse accelerated. The left-arm spinner proved unplayable, claiming four wickets for just two runs in 1.3 overs. His spell ended Argentina’s innings at a mere 19 runs in 10.3 overs — a total that included four extras and not a single boundary. Tomas Rossi’s painstaking 17-ball stay yielded just one run, underlining the dominance of the USA bowling unit.

Chasing a target of just 20, USA’s openers wasted no time. Nikhil Sudini played aggressively, smashing 14 runs off eight deliveries with two crisp boundaries, while Saharsh Shwethan contributed 3 not out. The only blemish came when Shiv Shani was caught by Alvaro Minardi off captain Valentin Bur for 2, with the score on nine.

Sudini’s fluent stroke play and Shwethan’s steady presence ensured that the target was overhauled in just 2.2 overs, sealing victory with 47.4 overs to spare.

The result not only highlighted USA’s superiority in this fixture but also significantly boosted their net run rate — a key factor in tournament standings.
