The USA Under-19 team cruised to a dominant seven-wicket victory over Bermuda Under-19 in the ICC U19 Men’s Cricket World Cup Americas Qualifier 2025, played at the Param Veers Sports Complex on Wednesday, Aug. 13. The match was over in less than two hours of play, with Bermuda’s fragile batting lineup folding for just 55 runs in 32.5 overs, before USA chased the target in only 6.4 overs under the DLS method.

Bermuda, having won the toss, elected to bat first. The decision quickly backfired as USA’s new-ball pair of Adit Kappa and Supransh Kumar tore through the top order. Skipper and wicketkeeper Zeri Tomlinson was trapped lbw by Kappa for 2, followed shortly by Callum MacFarlane’s dismissal to Kumar. Keegan Jones briefly counterattacked with a boundary but fell for 7, and by the ninth over Bermuda were reeling at 13 for 4.

Only Luke Horan and Luke Fulton showed resistance, grinding out 21 and 16 respectively. Horan faced 50 balls for his runs before being caught off Adnit Jhamb, while Fulton’s 65-ball vigil ended when Utkarsh Srivastava struck. The rest of the batting crumbled, with four ducks and only two other players reaching more than two runs.

USA’s bowlers were relentless. Ansh Rai (2/11 from 8 overs) and Kappa (2/14) kept the pressure tight, while Srivastava’s 2/3 and Jhamb’s 2/5 mopped up the tail. Kumar’s early breakthroughs (2/11) set the tone, with his economy of 1.83 emblematic of the disciplined attack. Bermuda’s run rate never climbed above 1.7, and they were bowled out with 41 balls unused.

Chasing a revised target of 56, USA made their intentions clear from the start. Opening with Nitish Sudini’s aggressive strokeplay and Adnit Jhamb’s steady hand, they raced to 17 before Sahil Garg (11 off 8) was caught in the deep. Srivastava departed for a duck soon after, but Sudini countered with a flurry of boundaries — two fours and two sixes — in a blistering 27 from just 13 balls.

Bermuda’s bowlers struggled for control, with Sa-Qui Robinson conceding 29 from three overs despite claiming Srivastava’s wicket. Horan picked up two scalps, removing Garg and Sudini, but the damage was already done. Jhamb finished unbeaten on 13, guiding USA to the target alongside Shwethan (2*).

USA reached 56/3 in just 6.4 overs at a run rate of 8.4, sealing a comfortable win and further strengthening their position in the qualifiers.
