Vancouver, B.C. — Fans at BC Place witnessed a rare cross-sport celebration on August 23 when the Vancouver Whitecaps welcomed the upcoming Canada Super 60 cricket league during their MLS home match against St. Louis CITY SC.

The evening’s highlight was a T-shirt and jersey exchange between two global stars — Indian cricket legend Yuvraj Singh, a two-time World Cup champion and cancer survivor, and German soccer icon Thomas Müller, FIFA World Cup winner and Whitecaps FC player.

“It was wonderful to meet Thomas Müller and share our passion for sport,” Yuvraj said, applauding the Whitecaps’ strong season. Müller praised Yuvraj’s career and expressed excitement about the new league, calling his journey “inspiring.”

The exchange energized the home crowd and spotlighted Vancouver’s role as host of the Canada Super 60, a groundbreaking cricket league launching from October 8 to 13, 2025, at BC Place. Featuring both men’s and women’s teams in a 10-over-a-side format, the competition is being billed as a global first, aiming to boost Canada’s cricket profile on the world stage.

League founder Abhishek Shah thanked the Whitecaps for their support. “It was an absolute delight to see Müller and Yuvraj together at BC Place,” Shah said. “Moments like these show Vancouver’s potential as a global sporting hub.”

Whitecaps Chief Commercial Officer Aditi Bhatt welcomed cricket’s arrival. “We are excited to host Canada Super 60 and believe football and cricket together will strengthen Vancouver’s sporting culture.”
