Hundred of cricket fans turned out on a beautiful South Florida night with temperatures hitting a record 82 degrees to watch Guyana and World XI post opening round victories last Saturday in the Lauderhill Maq T20 Intl. Night Cricket Tournament. In the first match at the Lauderhill Sports Park, Guyana defeated Bangladesh by 83 runs after winning the toss and ending on 211 for 3 after the allotted 20 overs.
Batting for Guyana, Adrian Zeman and Nazim Ali combined for 80 runs opening partnership, with Zeman blasting a whirlwind 68 from 35 balls including 1 four and 7 sixes. Ali contributed 42 including 3 fours and 2 sixes from 32 balls. Batting at number 5, Vickram Kumar blasted a quick fire 47 not out from 20 balls lace with 2 fours and 4 sixes, while Andres Forbes chipped in with 27 not out with 2 fours and 2 sixes. Bowling for Bangladesh, Osham Chowdhury took 1 for 3 Sala Addin 1 for for 13 from 3 overs.
In reply, Bangladesh batsman struggle against the Guyanese bowlers and ended on 128 for 9 at the end of the 20 overs. Rajeen Prabhakar slammed 30 from 20 balls including 4 fours and 1 six. Other useful contributions came from Naseem Kader 18, Mainuddin Ahmed 15, Fardeen Zahed 12 and Naveed Anjum 12. Bowling for Guyana, Vickram Kumar grabbed 2 for 15, Kamile Ali 2 for 17, Hazrat Ali 1 for 4 and Andres Forbes 1 for 32.
World XI defeated Team USA by 12 runs
World XI defeated Team USA by 12 runs in the second game of the third round of the Lauderhill Maq T20 Intl. Night Cricket Tournament. Winning the toss and electing to bat, World XI scored 177 for 8 in the allotted 20 overs. Faizon Maqsood led the World Xi attacked blasting 54 from 29 balls including 1 four and 6 sixes. Other useful contributions came from Rajat Verman 24 (4 x 4), USA National player Hussain Haider 20 (2 x 4), Usman Malik 17 and Varun Penmatsa 15. Bowling for Team USA, Joseph Smith grabbed 2 for 30 and Nicholas Mitto 2 for 30. Ransford Anderson and Samuel Plummer took 1 for 19 and 1 for 20 respectively.
In reply, at the end of 20 overs, Team USA was 165 for 8, losing by a mere 12 runs. Top scoring for Team USA, Marlon Grant led the charged with 37 including 4 fours and 1 six, while Steven Lewis slammed 30 with 1 four and 3 sixes. Other contributions came from Oneil Walker 15, Samuel Plummer 14 and Nicholas Mitto 12.
