WICB Women’s Super50 Bowls Off In Grenada On Monday – T20 To Follow From August 16 – 22

St John’s, Antigua – The top women’s cricketers in the West Indies, including world number one Twenty20 bowler Shanel Daley, world top rated Stafanie Taylor, spinner Anisa Mohammed and West Indies captain Merissa Aguilleira will be in action for several weeks this month as they compete for the coveted annual regional titles.

The West Indies Cricket Board Women’s Regional Super50 Tournament will bowl off on Monday August 5th with four matches in Grenada.

The tournament will comprise of three rounds followed by the semi finals and final which will be played at the Tanteen Ground on Wednesday August 14.

The WICB Women’s Regional Twenty20 Tournament will then commence on Friday August 16 and conclude with the grand final on Thursday August 22 at the Grenada National Stadium.

Both formats will comprise eight teams: Barbados, Dominica, Guyana, Grenada, Jamaica, St Lucia, St Vincent and the Grenadines and Trinidad and Tobago.

The Women’s Super50 was last played in 2011 in Barbados and Jamaica are the reigning champions while Jamaica also hold the T20 title having won the inaugural regional tournament on home soil last year. This is the first time both formats will be played in a season.

Taylor was voted the Most Valuable Player in 2012 after scoring 409 runs at an average of 81.80 and grabbing 13 wickets at 6.15 apiece.

The extra-ordinarily talented Taylor is currently ranked the number two bowler in ODIs and number six in the ICC ODI world rankings. She is the number eight ranked Twenty20 bowler.

Between the two formats the WICB will host a Player Development Seminar for all players participating in the tournament.
