Captain Dwayne Bravo thinks the new partnership between Trinidad and Tobago Red Steel and Indian Premier League franchise Kolkata Knight Riders can take the Caribbean Premier League to the next level.

KKR have twice won the IPL – in 2012 and 2014 – and are seen as one of the best run teams in the tournament.

Owner Shah Rukh Khan has snapped up shares in the Steel and has expressed his desire for the team to benefit from the expertise shown in his Indian franchise.

Players from the Caribbean have proved a big hit in the IPL, none more so than Bravo himself. He had a fine tournament for Chennai Super Kings in 2015, who lost to Mumbai Indians in the final.

“It’s a great thing, and it’s important for the entire tournament to have some of the Indian stars and Indian investors in the CPL,” Bravo told us about the partnership with KKR.

“We all know what western players do for the IPL and what we do over there and to have someone like Shah Rukh Khan come in to be part of the CPL… he picked the right team to buy as well, Trinidad and Tobago Red Steel.

“Our culture here in Trinidad will suit his lifestyle and also the fans will look forward to him and will be happy to have an owner now.”
