With Cricket South Africa’s (CSA) National Youth Cricket Weeks in full swing this month, around 30 players from around the country received wonderful news from CSA and the Proteas Technical partner, New Balance.
The Sportswear and Equipment manufacturer handed out cricket equipment and shoes to deserving provincial age group players during the past week.
Equipment included bats, pads, gloves, thigh pads, arm guards as well as cricket spikes which will hopefully allowed these players to perform at their finest during the national cricket weeks and further challenge for a place in their respective national age group teams.
“One of the challenges facing the talented kids we produce from our RPC and Hubs program is equipment,” said CSA GM: Cricket, Corrie van Zyl. “The quality of the equipment that we have received will go a long way in assisting these players perform to their potential and will make them feel proud to play the game and want to go out there and perform to their best.
“I must thank New Balance for this wonderful initiative and hopefully we can look forward to more initiatives like this that will enhance the potential of our rising stars,” Van Zyl, added.
“We are very proud to be associated with the RPC and Hubs program CSA have in place and we believe strongly that this type of support will underpin the great work CSA is doing in making the game accessible to all South Africans,” said Craig Bowen, Country Manager for New Balance South Africa.
The players receiving the kit took part in the CSA Boy’s Under 15, CSA Boy’s Under 17 and CSA Girl’s Under 19 Youth Weeks which took place this month.
