ST JOHN’S, Antigua – The West Indies Cricket Board today announced that the Regional Under 19 Tournament will be played in Guyana as originally scheduled.
“We are confident that all matters pertaining to cricket in Guyana will be suitably resolved to the satisfaction of all stakeholders and this will allow for the Under 19 Tournament to proceed as originally planned,” WICB President Dave Cameron said.
A high level WICB delegation headed by Vice President Emmanuel Nanthan recently traveled to Guyana and held discussions with the Guyana Cricket Board, the Government of Guyana and the parliamentary opposition parties. These meetings have paved the way for the anticipated resolution to all outstanding matters with a Memorandum of Understanding to be signed pending approval of the parties.
A full schedule for the tournament will be subsequently released pending the conclusion of all logistical matters. The tournament is scheduled to be played from July 20th to August 10th and will include Barbados, Guyana, Jamaica, Leeward Islands, Trinidad and Tobago, Windward Islands and ICC Americas.
