GRAND PRAIRIE, Texas (July 12, 2026) β LA Knight Riders completed their Major League Cricket 2026 group-stage campaign with a six-wicket victory over Texas Super Kings at Grand Prairie, chasing 172 with five balls to spare after Jason Holder and Sunil Narine led a disciplined bowling display.
Holder claimed 3 for 33 while Narine returned miserly figures of 1 for 15 from four overs to restrict Texas Super Kings to 171 for 9, despite an unbeaten 51 from Shubham Ranjane. Colin Munro then set the tone in the chase with an aggressive 62 off 36 balls before Matthew Tromp finished the job with an unbeaten 58 off 28 deliveries, his highest score in Major League Cricket.

After electing to bowl, LA Knight Riders made the ideal start when Narine removed Saiteja Mukkamalla for 4 in the opening over. Faf du Plessis and Rilee Rossouw steadied the innings with a brief rebuilding effort, contributing 23 and 24 respectively, but the pair fell in quick succession as Jason Holder dismissed Rossouw before Andre Russell accounted for du Plessis, reducing Texas Super Kings to 58 for 3.
Dian Forrester briefly shifted the momentum with a lively 24 from just 11 balls, striking two fours and two sixes, before Rovman Powell ended his innings. Donovan Ferreira added 19, while Calvin Savage managed 6 as wickets continued to fall at regular intervals.
Ranjane held the innings together, remaining unbeaten on 51 from 34 deliveries, an innings featuring five fours and a six. However, the lack of sustained partnerships prevented Texas Super Kings from accelerating in the closing overs. Holder returned to claim his third wicket, Russell finished with 2 for 38, and Narine maintained relentless control throughout his four-over spell. Akeal Hosein and Hardus Viljoen were dismissed late, while Amshi de Silva was run out through a combination of Powell and Russell as Texas closed on 171 for 9.
LA Knight Riders responded positively despite losing Andre Russell for 9 during the chase. Munro took command from the outset, playing fluently through the off side and clearing the ropes with ease. His innings of 62 from 36 balls included six fours and four sixes before he was bowled by Hosein in the 11th over.
Andre Fletcher anchored the middle overs with a measured 26 from 30 balls before being run out by Ranjane, but by then Munro had already laid the platform for the chase.
Tromp ensured there would be no late twist, producing his finest MLC innings to date. The left-hander struck seven fours and two sixes in an unbeaten 58 from only 28 deliveries, keeping the required rate comfortably under control. Rovman Powell added 8 before falling, while Holder sealed victory in emphatic fashion with a six from his only delivery to finish unbeaten on 6 as LA Knight Riders reached 172 for 4 in 19.1 overs. Hardus Viljoen was the most successful Texas bowler with 2 for 42, while Hosein returned 1 for 16.
The result gives LA Knight Riders valuable momentum heading into the playoffs after a balanced all-round performance highlighted by Holder, Narine, Munro and Tromp. For Texas Super Kings, whose elimination had already been confirmed before the match, the defeat brings their 2026 campaign to a close despite another resilient innings from Ranjane.
Brief scores: Texas Super Kings 171/9 in 20 overs (Shubham Ranjane 51*, Dian Forrester 24, Rilee Rossouw 24; Jason Holder 3/33, Andre Russell 2/38, Sunil Narine 1/15) lost to LA Knight Riders 172/4 in 19.1 overs (Colin Munro 62, Matthew Tromp 58*, Andre Fletcher 26; Hardus Viljoen 2/42, Akeal Hosein 1/16) by six wickets.
