DAVIS, Calif., Sept. 29, 2026 β€” The East Bay Blazers closed their four-game short season with six players from Blazers Cricket Academy making their senior-team debuts through the club's Elite Pathway program.

The sixth and final debut came from Aadhav Iyer, who played in the Blazers' fourth game against the San Ramon Grizzlies on Sept. 26 at Davis Cricket Ground.
Aadhav Iyer is one of six Blazers Cricket Academy players to make their Minor League Cricket debuts in the 2026 season.

The shortened season followed a deliberate decision by Blazers management. After qualifying for the playoffs and winning their division in each of the previous three seasons, the club opted not to pursue this year's playoff campaign. Instead, the Blazers focused on player development and creating opportunities for academy students to transition into senior-level competition.

A Pathway From Academy to Match Day
The Elite Pathway program is designed to bridge the gap between academy development and senior competition. Six academy players were given an opportunity to gain experience at the senior level during the season, providing a direct route from the club's youth development program to competitive match play.

"Winning three straight division titles has been a proud achievement for everyone at the Blazers, but a club is only as strong as the players coming through behind it," said Biju Nair of the East Bay Blazers. "This season was about giving our academy students a real opportunity, and seeing six of them debut, including Aadhav in our final game, tells us we made the right call. We're building for the long term."
