In celebrating cricket history, West Indies cricket legends will gather between January 19 – 21, 2024, to commemorate a remarkable achievement that transcends time and inspired generations.
Only four West Indies cricket icons have etched their names in the sport’s history by achieving a triple century. The four legends are Sir Garfield Sobers, 365 n.o. vs. Pakistan – Kingston, Jamaica, 1958, Lawrence Rowe, 302 vs. England – Barbados, 1974, Brian Lara, 375 vs. England, 1994 and 400 n.o. vs. England, St. John’s, Antigua, 2004, and Chris Gayle, 317 vs. South Africa – St. John’s, Antigua – 2005 and 333 vs. Sri Lanka, Galle, Sri Lanka – 2010.
Lawrence George ‘Yagga’ Rowe, one of the four legends, has resided in South Florida for over three decades and is celebrating his 75th birthday this year. He will be honored on the 50th anniversary of his remarkable Test match performance.
The anniversary of Rowe’s historic triple century holds immense significance for the Caribbean cricket community. It is a tribute to the rich heritage of the Caribbean region and the enduring legacy of Lawrence Rowe.
