In what can be dubbed one of the most thrilling games at the Seaview Ground, Inzy Khan and Orin Prince propelled the Diplomats Sports Club to victory over the host team, the Wanderers’ Cricket Club on June 09.
After winning the toss and deciding to take first strike, the top order batsman of DSC faltered and were reeling at 77 for seven after 22 overs, when Inzy Khan and Orin Prince began an onslaught on the Wanderers bowling. In total control of the bowling Inzy Khan displayed remarkable batting skills stroking the ball to all parts of the Seaview ground scoring five sixes and twelve fours before being run out in the 39th over. Orin Prince remained not out with 19. Bowling for the Wanderers CC Jenzra captured four wickets for 45 runs in his allotted eight overs.
The Wanderers batsmen seemed lack lustre and disappointed at not taking advantage of their early success with the Diplomats top order batsmen and were skittled out for a mere 130 in thirty-overs. Top score for Wanderers was O. Bailey with 38. Bowling for Diplomats Garvin Smith was the most successful of the Diplomats bowlers with figures of four for 32 off of his allotted eight overs and Keith Eadie bagged two wickets for 18 runs off five overs. Diplomats skippered by wicket-keeper Selwyn Smith won by 142 runs. Congrats to Inzy Khan and and Orin Prince for a record breaking seventh wicket stand for the Diplomats Sports Club.
In other games Diplomats defeated the newly formed New York Youth team on June 02 by 162 runs at Marine Park.
During the Memorial day week-end the Diplomats Sports Club and the NY Youth Team toured Maryland as guests of the Windies Cricket and Cultural Club. On Saturday May 25 in a game between the Diplomats Sports Club veterans and the Windies Cricket Club veterans for the Jon B. Singh Memorial Trophy, the Diplomats veterans emerged as winners and on Sunday Sunday May 26 a game was played between Diplomats and the Windies Cricket and Social Club for the Milton Gravesande Memorial trophy at which the Diplomats triumphed again. Both games were played at the Kenmoor Middle School Ground in Hyattsville, Maryland.
