Long Island United won the toss and decided to bat first and found themselves in trouble very early when Amarnath Persaud was introduce into the attack.
In his very first over Persaud had Asim bowled for a duck then he had Asom Kadir caught brilliantly by Ken Nandkumar, the reliable Selwyn Mohan walk to the crease and was out first ball plumb LBW for a duck, it was 4 for 33 at that stage.
With some excellent batting by Salaam Khan, Asim, Sajjad and the young Anwer Khan see LIU get to a respectable total, they ended up with 134 for 8 off 20 overs.
Meten-Meer-Zorg started their innings with USA national player Azurdeen Mohammed and the veteran Ken Nandkumar, Mohammed was first to go caught for 2 off the young under 19 fast bowler Anwer Khan, the dependable Deonauth Baksh was out caught in the gully off Khan for 4. MMZ was in trouble at 10 for 2.
Zaaid Majeed was promoted to number 4 and he was out bowled off an inside edge off Anwer Khan for a duck. Travis Ross didn’t last long as he was out caught for 12.
Nandkumar batted well for 31, USA under 19 player Amarnath Persaud came in and played some fine shots for a well played 25, with the MMZ boys needed 25 of 2 overs it was left to the skipper Ajaz Asgarally and New York under player Rocky Kowchai to finish the job. In the 19th over Asgarally and Kowchai took 17 runs off the pacer, with eight needed in the final over. Kowchai finishes it with a huge straight six it was all over with three balls to spare.
