Rising Star vs Victory CC
Victory CC won the toss and elected to take first strike on a very hot day at Jacob Riis’s Park. Rising Star teenager left-arm swing bowler Yogindra “Kishan” Dass struck gold after he found the edge of captain Sumit Rajpaul in the first over, while “2008 PSAL” Cricketer of the year Dominic Gomes removed #3 batsman Jasdeedp without adding to the total in the second over. Victory CC found themselves struggling at 1 for 2, but opening batsman R. Rohit hung around to take the score to 26 for 3 after the 11th. over before his leg stump was uprooted by seventeen year old Dass. Dass would finish with figures of 8-0-21-2.
Saubrab and Bobby would take the score to 97-4 after the 26th. over before young Ian Latchman was introduced into the attack. Ian, younger brother of former NYCR Under-19 player “Leikram Latchman” would not disappoint on debut with the ball, he would go on to remove both batsmen in his first over with some outstanding catching in the out-field by 2008 NYPD MVP “Rasheem James”. James continues to show why he’s one of the better all-rounder in the New York Tristate Region. Latchman would finish with match figures of 5-0-11-5. Victory CC was restricted to 113 all-out after 33-overs.
Rising Star CC opening batsmen Keddy Lesporis, and Richard Rampersad would make lite work with the small total posted by Victory CC. RSCC was off to an excellent start with some aggressive batting from both Lesporis, and Rampersad. Lesporis would finish on 54 unbeaten runs, whilst Rampersad added 33 to lead his club with most runs after seven league matches.
