Atlantis Plays Santa’s Helper

Atlantis Cricket Club – NY earlier this week presented scores of toys collected as part of its 2011 Toys for Tots Drive, to the Public Safety Department of Kingsborough Community College in Brooklyn, NY.

Atlantis' Henderson Blades (Far right) presents one of the many toys to Ms. Donna Cafiero, while Sgt. Nicholas Monte looks on approvingly.

The City University of New York (CUNY) Kingsborough Community College’s Peace Officers have been collecting toys for redistribution to children at local area hospitals during the holidays. According to John Aaron, a member of Atlantis’ Executive Board and spokesperson for the 45-year old cricket organization, “Atlantis has been encouraging its active young players to be more engaging with the community-at-large and beyond the cricket playing boundary,” adding, “It’s in keeping with our club’s motto of – Atlantis, more than just cricket!”

Making the presentation on behalf of Atlantis, was opening batsman Henderson Blades, a centurion awardee at this year’s Atlantis Awards dinner. The new unwrapped toys were donated by club members and friends during the club’s 2011 holiday party and were presented to Sgt. Nicholas Monte of the college’s Public Safety Department, and Donna Cafiero, an Office Manager at Kingsborough Community College, located in the Manhattan Beach section of Brooklyn.

An excited and grateful Ms. Cafiero said, “Thanks to Atlantis for boosting our 2011 toy drive and we hope we are part of the club’s 2012 toy drive effort.”
