Atlantis’ Seth Maughn Combines Hat-trick With 7 for 24 League Record, Amsterdam Misses Ton

Putting Lucas in to bat first, Atlantis quickly dispatched the lot back to the bleachers at 50 all-out. The top scorer was Dorrel Evelyn, with 21 caught by Randall Wilson off the bowling of Seth Maughn. Maughn would enjoy figures of 5.4-1-24-7, including a hat-trick and the Player-of-the-Match award.

With Atlantis employing only two bowlers – Maughn and skipper Gregory Robinson, the boys in green behind Seth Maughn ensured only Evelyn and Ibrahim Zahoor, 18, would reach double-digits. Robinson had figures of 5.4-1-26-2. Lucas’ inning lasted 11.4 overs. The Lucas wickets fell at 4, 25, 35, 35, 37, 43, 50, 50, 50, and 50.

In response and an early exit from Idlewild’s center, Atlantis lost opener Akeel Hoyte, 4, in the first over. However, Vice-skipper Randall Wilson, 23 off 15, and overseas player Kellon Carmichael, also contributing 23 off 20 balls, saw it home at 54 for one in 6.2 overs.

Spice Island vs. Suburbia Sports Club

Spice Island was too muy Caliente for Suburbia, outplaying them in all departments. After a shaky start to the Spice Island inning, they lost two wickets before the scorers could pick up their pencils or turn on their tablets.

Winning the toss, Suburbia opted to bowl and allowed Spice Island to reach 177 runs in 24 overs, mainly off the bat of the club’s overseas player Laredo Best who top-scored with 65 (2x6s, 3x4s). Willie Charles chipped in with 28, and Clint Chaste, 22.

Bowling for Suburbia, overseas player Janyo Beckford with 5-0-27-3 and Manor Hussain with 4-0-32-3 were the principal wicket-takers. Dean Burrell snatched 2 for 40 off five overs as the Spice Island wickets fell at 0, 0, 44, 61, 114, 116, 133, 148, 177, and 177.

In response, despite a better opening start than Spice Island, Suburbia lost wickets at rapid intervals, resulting in a total collapse at 52 all out in 15.5 overs and an early day at the office for the Spice Islanders. Manor Hussain showed the face of his bat for 21 runs, and Dean Burrell contributed 10. They were the only double-digitizers, as Suburbia registered six eggs in its response to Spice Island. The Suburbia wickets fell at 22, 34, 35, 36, 47, 48, 48, 52, 52, 52, and 52.

Villagers Sports Club vs. Westbury Cricket Club
Villagers won by 16 runs.
In a rain-shortened game, Villagers closed out its inning at 194, losing eight wickets along the way, with Alex Amsterdam topping the charts and missing a ton by just two runs. Former Westbury heavy-hitter Tristan Coleman was on the wrong end of a first-ball duck against his 2021 team. Amsterdam was the best bat of the day, hitting 7x6s and 5x4s in his 98 off 71 deliveries. He was cleaned bowled by Richard Allen. In a second-wicket partnership with Amsterdam, Steve Messiah contributed 26 and Barrington Bartley, 18.

Horace Porter, one of Westbury’s overseas players, was the pick of the litter, capturing 4 for 45 off five overs. Richard Allen had figures of 1.2-0-10-2. The Villagers’ wickets fell at 1, 106, 130, 159, 166, 172, 190, and 192.

Westbury, in reply, lost their first wicket at 30, that of Kemar Marshall c. Tristan Coleman for 11. The second wicket fell at 81, with overseas registrant Daniel Beckford falling for 32 in the 14th over. The Westbury inning collapsed at 178 for 5 in 24.2 overs, despite a defiant 41 off 46 deliveries (1×6, 2x4s) from opener Roberto Simpson. An early Westbury season centurion Richard Allen (172), was unfortunately caught by Mike Alexis for 4 off of a Michael Thompson delivery with the score at 87 for 3 in the 16th over. Tristan Coleman was responsible for three catches off the Villagers’ bowling.

Bowling for Villagers: Michael Thompson enjoyed figures of 5-0-33-3. The Westbury wickets fell at 30, 81, 87, 96, and 102.
