Australian Cricket Star Pat Cummins Joins San Francisco Unicorns
Cognizant Major League Cricket (MLC) celebrates another key international player signing in the lead-up to the second season, with Australian Test and ODI captain Pat Cummins joining the San Francisco Unicorns.
The leading Australian cricketer, a right-arm fast bowler known for his pace, slower ball variations, pinpoint yorkers, and handy lower-order power hitting, is a game-changing addition to the Unicorn’s roster and overall MLC player talent pool.
Cummins’ announcement follows a bumper international player signing period across the MLC’s six teams: Los Angeles Knight Riders, MI New York, Seattle Orcas, Texas Super Kings, Washington Freedom, and San Francisco Unicorns.
Bangladesh Veteran all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan, South Africa’s power-hitter David Miller, Irish fast-bowler Josh Little, Indian wicketkeeper-batter Adithya Ganesh, and Afghani spinner Waqar Salamkheil have joined the LA Knight Riders.
Defending champions MI New York have signed West Indian allrounder Romario Shepherd and South African fast bowler Anrich Nortje.
San Francisco Unicorns’ star signing Cummins will join fellow Australian wicketkeeper Josh Inglis, emerging batsman Jake Fraser-McGurk, and hard-hitting West Indian run scorer Sherfane Rutherford.
A fast bowling quartet consisting of West Indian Obed McCoy, South African Nandre Burger, Australians Nathan Ellis, and Lance Morris has added even more pace to the Seattle Orcas roster.
Texas Super Kings announced New Zealand all-rounder Daryl Mitchell has signed for the 2024 season, along with South Africa’s T20 captain and opening batsman Aiden Markram, Australian all-rounder Aaron Hardie, and Afghanistan’s speedster Naveen ul Haq.
Washington Freedom boasts a stacked roster of explosive batting talent, including Steve Smith, Travis Head, and Glenn Maxwell, alongside Jack Edwards and New Zealand’s Rachin Ravindra.
Cognizant Major League Cricket’s chief executive, Vijay Srinivasan, is thrilled with Cummins’s inclusion in the upcoming MLC season.
“Signing a world-class player like Pat Cummins is a testament to the caliber of talent the league is attracting, underscoring our global impact and the success of the inaugural season,” said Srinivasan.
“It elevates the level of competition fans will get to see and experience on home soil and showcases our commitment to bringing the top-tier players in the world to play in America’s very own league.
