EACA T20 Blitz
The talented Azurdeen Mohammed who slammed a 45 ball 111 not out two weeks ago against Victory in the EACA T20 Blitz fixture, single handily nearly beat Liberty SC in their final encounter on Sunday at 108 Street in Brooklyn.
It started off disastrously for the MMZ boys with a family member passing on a another one critically ill and at the Georgetown public hospital in Guyana , The MMZ team Management wrote the league an email asking for the week off knowing the fact that their opponent still have to play another game next Sunday.
Here is our request to reschedule the game.
Dear Mr. President,
Meten-Meer-Zorg Cricket Club had a game schedule for this Sunday Sept 21st at 2:30 PM against Liberty Sports Club. Unfortunately we have a very urgent situation where one of our cousin in Guyana was beaten up and is in critical condition at Georgetown Public Hospital. Most of the family members have already gone and a few more making arrangement to go over the weekend, a few of the team members along with myself will be flying out too. It will be difficult for us to field a team this week due to this unfortunate and sad situation.
Mr. President, I am kindly asking you and your executive members to please reschedule our game for the following week Sunday. (we don’t mind hosting Liberty SC.)
I am very sorry for any inconvenience this may have caused.
Thank you very much for your kind understanding regarding this matter.
Of course the President Mr. Rudy Persaud and his executives said no to our request.
(Its mind boggling to know where the humanity is in us)
Never the less MMZCC decided to play the game with only eight players. Liberty SC won the toss and decided to bat first and scored 144 in their 20 overs. At one stage they were 55 for 5 with Andy Mohammed cleaning up the top 3 batsmen.
MMZ started off with Glen Meyer and Imdad Khan, Meyer was first to go caught for 5, the prolific Andy Mohammed walked in at number three and without hesitation started to plunder the bowling all over the park, with MMZ playing with only eight players Mohammed knew he had to bat to the end if his team have any chance to win. Mohammed brought up his half century with a pull for four to bring MMZ within 45 runs for victory, as the boys in blue starting to panic Mohammed played a lose shot and was bowled for a well-played 68, MMZ made 115 for 7 off 17.2 overs.
Well played Liberty SC.
Azurdeen Mohammed scored over eight hundred runs and took over 30 wickets which include 3 centuries 5 half centuries in the 2014 season. Well played Andy Mohammed.
MMZ CC management, players and supporters would like to thank its sponsor Mr. Tariq Ali from Rite Way Enterprises for his sponsorship and looking forward for his continue support. “Mr. Tariq Ali without your support our season would not have be a success “
Well played MMZCC.
