Baksh Hit Superb 70 On His Return As Meten-Meer-Zorg Beat Arsenal

Meten Meer Zorg (MMZ) won the toss and elected to bat first in bright sunshine against Arsenal at Flushing Park. USA player Azurdeen Mohammed and the young talented Trevis Ross opened the batting for the MMZ.
The two played some fine shots all around the park. They added fifty in five overs before Ross was out to a brilliant catch in the deep. In walk the Mr. “dependable” just off from a Delta flight into the MMZ uniform. Deonauth Baksh joined his skipper Mohammed who was batting well until he got one that kept low and was adjudged LBW for a well played 31. Amarnauth Persaud came in the wicket and he was also out LBW with one that drop and never raised.
Baksh who in his usual way taking his time stroking the ball well picking up his singles and doubles was joined by Nandkumar who played some entertaining shots before he was bowled for a well played 24, the young Saud Hussain walked to the middle and with Baksh and saw the MMZ reached the two hundred landmark.
Baksh brings up his half century with a spanking cover drive. He was eventually out for a well played 70. Hussain batted well for his 26. MMZ eventually reached 247 off their 35 overs with some late hitting by Ajaz Asgarally and Rocky Kowchai.
Arsenal started their innings with Carter and Shayed. It was the young Rocky Kowchai and the improved Rayhanul Islam sharing the two new balls for the MMZ. Carter was first to go from a brilliant fielding from Trevis Ross. Shayed was out caught by Majeed of an out swinger from Islam. As Rocky was bowling with lots of pace at the other end, he had Parcha brilliantly caught by wicketkeeper Asgarally.
Fayezi was comprehensively bowled by Isalm then he had Chowdary caught by Kowchai at backward square for 12. The left arm spinner Ramdihal and off spinner Zaaid Majeed cleaned up the rest of the batsmen. Arsenal were bowled out for 122.
Bowling for MMZ, Kowchai 5-030-1, Islam 7-3-24-3, Majeed 5.1-0-30-2, Mohammed 4-0-16-0 and Persaud 2-0-5-0.
Final scores MMZ 247 for 9 off 35 overs, Arsenal 122 all out off 31.1 overs.
