Captain Wahab Of Sunrise Blistering Knock Sink Horizon

After losing a heart breaking match which seems like a gift to Country Boys, Sunrise captain Wahab Hussain took charge as he blasted Horizon bowlers last Sunday at Seaview Park in Brooklyn. Winning the toss and batting Roopnarine Dayal lead the batting with Khemraj Somaru, who departed early off the bowling of Shundell with the score at 12 in the 3rd overs.

However Dayal showed consistency with his opening bat as he effectively rotate the strike keeping the score ticking joined by Wahab. Both batsmen showed confidence and resilient building a masterpiece batting partnership scoring freely. Horizon bowlers seemed agitated with the stubbornness of Dayal and Wahab who was executing brilliant strokes effectively taking Sunrise score to 72 for 1 in the 10th over.

With the seed of an epic partnership sewed in the first half of Sunrise batting it seems that the Captain Wahab saw it was imperative for him to eyed Horizon bowlers with more aggression. Suddenly in the Horizon it was raining boundaries as Wahab start assaulting Horizon bowlers. In his batting repertoire was his onside drive to deep cover and deep extra cover as he was connecting with ease clearing the boundary for monumental six and flawless fours.

In addition Wahab executed his cover drive picking boundary as Dayal mastered the role of holding an end letting his captain feast on Horizon bowlers. With aggressive running in between the wickets Dayal was run out in the 14 overs with score at 122 for 2.

Most significantly Dayal laid the foundation for this epic partnership of 110 runs with Wahab making 36 solid runs and once more give his team a perfect start. Wahab power batting show continues as his teammates were chanting for him to make a century after his half century. In the 15 over Wahab had his team score double to 144 as he managed 74 runs in 5 over. With the score at 183 and in the 17 overs Wahab stalwart batting came to an end as he was caught at deep cover for a magnificent 86 runs with the score at 153 for 3. Wahab powerful batting put Sunrise at a poignant offensive position as Ravi Etwaroo and Morris Seecharan with others added 41 runs in the last 3 over fattening Sunrise total score to 194 for 7 in 20 overs.

Wahab Hussain hit a splendid 86.

For Horizon Lester had lead the bowling with 2 for 20 followed by S. Deonarine 2 for 42.

Horizon knew that chasing 9.7 runs per over will be a hard task but showed confidence as they picked up 10 in the first in their reply.

However, Kris Narine bowling at #2 had O. Jackson bowled in his fist delivery of his spell for 7 as the score reads 10 for 1 in 1.1 overs. Khemraj Somaru bowled a tight second after as Kris came back and had R. Mayers caught behind for 4 with the score 16 for 2 in 3. S. Deonarine got run out trying to stretch as single into double at mid-wicket.

Kris in the 3rd over took 2 maiden wickets as he had P. Charles caught behind and removed C. William off stump rupturing Horizon batting lineup with the score 30 for 5. Kris bowling left a bleak outlook for Horizon as they looked dismayed and shocked. A. Mackenzie and K. Williams showed sustenance for Horizon as they took the score to 62 in the 10 over.

After the break Deryck Basdeo had K. William bowled for 10 as Lester joined Mackenzie and they try to build a partnership. However, Wahab bowling at number 5 get into the bowling action and had Mackenzie caught at long on.

With the partnership broken Lester was caught behind for the leading score of 25 off Deryck as Horizon batting began to fall apart. Khemraj Somaru had S. Jackson caught at deep cover as Wahab closed the door on Horizon batsmen having Junior caught behind as they were bowled out for 94 in 17.4 overs.

Kris Narine had 4 for 16.

Sunrise bowlers continued their penetrating bowling as Kris Narine was instrumental in taking out Horizon batsmen early in the game had a superb bowling spell of 4 for 16, as Wahab Hussain went for 2 for 18, and Deryck Basdeo followed with 2 for 27. It was important win for Sunrise as it propels its member looking forward to the next game in this short competition.
