The Cupertino Chamber of Commerce held a STAR Awards night at which they recognized businesses and individuals that have contributed to the City of Cupertino.

California Cricket Academy (CCA) was awarded the Best Small Business Award in recognition of its contribution to the City of Cupertino. The Academy also received awards and certificates from the US Congressman, State Assembly Senator, Santa Clara County Chamber and City. The Awards night was attended by more than 150 prominent business and community leaders from the City of Cupertino.
Along with Hemant Buch and Kinjal Buch, some prominent CCA volunteers were also in attendance at the Star Awards 2017.

In addressing those present at the awards event, Ms. Kinjal Buch, CCA President, highlighted the many achievements of the academy and the way it has made a difference in the City of Cupertino and the neighboring areas, since 2003. Ms. Buch recognized the contributions of the City, school districts, volunteers, coaches and sponsors. She also gave a brief history of how CCA started with 22 players in 2003, and now has more than 200 players on its roster. She explained, “CCA’s vision to have a world-class coaching program, has resulted in more than two dozen players having represented the USA in various age groups over the years.

The heart of the academy is its players, and CCA truly admires and appreciate the courage of its young players who took up a sport that was relatively unknown to them, knowing fully well that it is not a glamorous NCAA sport like basketball or football, and no academic scholarships offered for exemplary performances. Hats off to the parents of the players who allowed their children to follow their passion in spite of such limitations,” adding,” They are the true ambassadors of the game.”

Hemant Buch, founder of the California Cricket Academy remarked, “Recognition at the USA Congress and State levels for a game which is virtually restricted to a smaller demographic speaks volume about the impact of the academy on the culturally diverse and rich community of Silicon Valley, in the Bay Area. We were surprised and elated when we received the call from the Cupertino Chamber of Commerce regarding the selection of our academy for the prestigious STAR awards.”
