The last time these two team met, Sunrise winning the toss batted but did not fare well. At last Sunday division one 15 overs semi final game Sunrise winning the toss strategically sent in Wolfpack to bat. H. Bacchus and S. Adam opened and Stanley Lloyd continued with his penetrating bowling respectively sent them to the pavilion and Wolfpack was quickly 2 for 9 in the 3rd over. K. Ramcharan and A. Jaikaran paired up and repaired the damages for their team.
Ramcharan on 9 was dropped and several times later in the game and Sunrise lost opportunities in adding more pressure on Wolfpack. Jaikaran was caught for 24 off Deryck Basdeo, and contributed a significant 38 runs partnership with the score 47 for 3 in the 8th over. Harold Deokinanan bowled R. Bachulall and D Author was run out right after with score 66 for 5. Ramcharan capitalized with his many chances powered his team with late boundaries joined by A. Hargobin. Stanley would returned and struck again having Hargobin caught for 10 with score 98 for 6 in the 14th over. Ramcharan had the better part of Sunrise bowlers scoring a gifted 43 runs not out placing Wolfpack at a competitive score of 109 for 6 in 15th overs.
Stanley Lloyd bowled superbly in back to back game went of 3-0-18-3, as Deryck Basdeo contributed a spell of 3-0-14-1, and Harold Deokinanan 3-0-17-1.
In Sunrise reply Wolfpack opening bowlers struck early as A. Mowler have Roopnarine Dayal caught in the 1st over with score at 3. W. Azula had Seeram Persaud run out and cleaned bowl Deryck Basdeo in his first over as Sunrise sunk to 5 for 3 in the 2nd over s. Selwyn Cheong would come to the crease and blasted a four to get off the mark. Joined by Shane Manbodh Cheong was able to creep the sore to 24 as R. Bicholall bowled Shane with the score 24 for 4 in the 6th over.
Cheong who looked solid was joined Gerald Lloyd who show a short sign of resistance but was run out with the score 46 for 6 in the 9th overs. With light rain falling Cheong joined by Stanley Lloyd partnered to challenge Wolfpack bowlers as they turn up the heat hitting timely boundaries to give Sunrise a chance for victory. Running and Slipping in between wicket did not hampered Cheong and Stanley abilities to take the score to 70 in the 12th over. Faced with the dilemma of making 40 runs in 3 overs and to some members and onlookers impossible, Cheong and Stanley displayed believed and determination to achieve a favorable outcome.
Stanley and Cheong in the 13 over blasted S. Adam for a thunderous 18 runs bringing the momentum right back in their favor. Immediately in the next over Stanley seems like a closer tagged A. Hargobin for 11 runs taking the score to 99 in the 14th overs. The game came down to 11 runs to win in the last over, Wolfpack opening bowler A. Mowler looks like he was ready to stop Cheong and Stanley explosive batting. However, with the rain continued to fall his first ball was a no ball going way over the keepers head. Stanley would blast a 4 off his second ball and took control scoring doubles for a Sunrise victory 110 for 6 with a ball to spare. Cheong had solid knock of 53 and Stanley made a blistering 30. It was jubilant ending for Sunrise, but for the dejected Wolfpack players it felt like they were struck by thunder and lightning in the last 3 overs.
D. Outar lead Wolfpack bowling with 3-0-13-1, and the other mentionable bowlers are as follow: R. Bicholall 3-0-20-1, W. Azula 3-0-20-1, and A. Mowler 2.5-0-22-1.
